Padlock: Disc-style or shrouded shackle, weatherproof with a rubber lock cap. 4 keys included. Weight: Whole set is ∼4.5 lbs. You feel the heft — this isn’t dollar-store chain. Security The chain is thick. Bolt cutters under 24” won’t touch 8-10mm hardened links. I tested on a scrap link with 18” cutters — just dented it. this bike lock [$68.19 3 Works but has some issues Cameron *** I've gone through 2 of these locks in 2 years now and my bike still hasn't been stolen. I am currently biking to and from a college campus so bike theft is a major problem, but I've noticed for the most part, the only bike that get stolen either aren't locked or are super nice. My bike isn't all that nice so probably any lock would have done. The lock definitely seems secure and I have no worries about my bike getting stolen or lock getting cut. However there are a few major issues that have resulted in me giving it a 3 star review. The lock doesn't do well in rain. As a college student, I don't have any other option, but to keep my bike locked outside. Although I live in California and it only rains about 5 times a year, whenever it does rain, the internal mechanism rusts shut and takes quite a while to get semi-functional again. I bought a second one this year hoping my first lock was a fluke, however my newer one has also rusted shut. The other issues that resulted in the less favorable review is how poorly the lock to bike mount is designed. I've gone through 3 of the official kryptonite bike mounts with the two locks and all of them have lasted around a month before they start to slip and no longer hold the lock securely. Over-tightening required to keep the lock from shifting. mwi*** The locking mechanism is functioning, but the frame mounting device broke on it's first long ride. In order to keep the mount from slipping on the bike frame while riding, I tightened the mount screw very tight. After a few bumps the plastic mount cracked. The lock fell off my bike and I ran over it, nearly throwing me to the ground. The mount is made of a brittle material; this could have been avoiding with a washer installed in the mount. Oh well...
