Loving These Weights! The Rebec*** We have had these dumbbells for about two months now and my husband really loves them. Finally he can quit going to the gym and just work out at home! My living room is now also the workout room and these weights hardly take up any space! They are also aesthetically pleasing and beautifully designed! The handle/grip rotates so you can easily adjust the weight level without needing anyone to help you. The handle rotates 360 degrees and clicks at each weight selection increment. You can turn it clockwise and anticlockwise. There are screws on each side that can be checked and tightened as needed but seem fine for now. We got the ones with the knurling as my husband is used to that from when he went to the gym. They say not to press the safety lock or turn the dial when the weight is not in the dumbbell tray! That is easy enough to remember. Also pick them straight up from the tray! The locking mechanism won't allow weights to be changed unless the weights are sitting in the stand. This is a good safety feature! These arrive in two boxes. The weights are already set up and you may want to lessen the weight to take them out of the box. I would not recommend trying to lift a whole box before opening it. The weights are nicely packaged with Styrofoam so arrived undamaged and the boxes were packed carefully with straps around the boxes to ensure a safe delivery. I watched my husband lift the weights first. He said: "You just watched me do it, that's all there is to it." So easy to learn to use in a few seconds of use! Read the directions that come in each box. The pamphlet is well made, durable and shows photos of the weights along with detailed instructions for use and weight adjustment. So one person can use these weights without any help from another person when adjusting the weight levels. I am not a doctor, so this is not medical advice. Please use weights at your own risk but we've found them easy to use and have not had any issues with them. My cat Wolfie sits by the weights and loves hanging out there now! I bought these to incremental load on my single stack cable tower. I tried doing loading pins (2.5 lbs and 5.0 lbs), but for various reasons, they didn't work (my tower is wall mounted). These Snode adder weights work perfectly. The magnet is strong enough that I can double up 2 sets of 2 and pop on the center rod area right above the top most plates. They stayed on during movements, and I got a perfect 5 lb increment. I can see some benefit of doing 2.5lb and 7.5 lbs, and the 8 pack helps with that. GRILLM*** This adjustable dumbell came as a single only with a plastic tray holder. The weight increments go to 3, 5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 18, 20, 23, 25. There are 4 main plates on either side. With the end plate being attached to the dumbell for the 3 ib setting. To adjust the weights you just turn the handle left or right. The orange handle is very comfortable and perfectly fits my medium sized hands. I thought these types of dumbells would be cumbersome to use, but I was wrong. It is so easy and convenient to use. Don't have to unscrew both ends of the handle to change weight like my old set. And what dumbell set comes with enough plastes for 10 different weight settings? The end plate is also flat so I can easily rest them on my thighs vertically. Just this one dumbell costs a little more than 2 standard metal sets but I think it's worth it. The price this was originally listed at was a lot lower than some other brands out there. Hope to get a second one so I can have a pair. This is a great product. Great value for the price listed. NordicTrack Select-a-Weight Adjustable Dumbbells 4 Pretty Good Space Saver Joe*** Replaced an older Bowflex set. They are well packaged delivered without any scratches or dings. One dumbell was a little tricky to change weight but it seems to be getting better with use. The 2.5 and 5# adjustment is not marked so you will have to do it yourself. I don't see any way to register them for potential warranty issues. I'd say they edge out the Bowflex and I got them at about $340. I paired them with the HANDBODE stand and it works great. It took me a bit to figure how how to select the weight for this dumbbell. I could not get the handle to turn! That's because I did not have the dumbbell sitting in the stand. Do yourself a favor and read the directions and literature first like I should have! This dumbbell has four plates that come with it. The handle without any plates is 5 lbs. Then each plate added (one on each end) adds 5 lbs all the way up to 25 lbs. The dumbbell sits in a stand that allows you to select the weight you want by turning the handle. Once the selected weight clicks into place you're ready to go! The dumbbell is very comfortable to handle. It's some kind of alloy material which feels firm to grip. I don't imagine this getting slippery. I like the fact that this is a very compact set. It has a lot of weight options yet takes up very little space. You basically have 5 dumbbells in the space of 1. I do some workouts at home because they're more convenient than dressing for and driving into the gym. I can see myself using these quite often.
