Having a place located in a different country this technology seems to be the most advantageous to me. 1. Product was on stock at the moment of the purchase it was shipped and delivered on time. 2. Online support provided on product's you tube channel was remarkable, clarifying feasibility and availability of frequency for country to be used. 3. Set up was very simple, however important note regarding sign up account on Vera's website is a must: trying to set up the controller for an external reason manual set up was selected making me skip the wizard, inputting address (country, city, postal/zip code), I introduced the address as i know with no success, after several tries i was able to find and address using a zip code locator where i could find the proper name of the city where i want to installed the controller. So the problem was not at the actual address rather city name. Advise: be very careful at the moment of setting the controller up, since I was doing this remotely the person that was actually doing the wiring thing did it wrong and make us go through the "set up manually" but if last option is to you to introduce all info required try to do some research on internet before getting crazy LOL. 4. After device paring was the next step, which i have to admit it was simple but required 2 tries for a successful pairing. (Maybe cause I was doing this remotely too). 5.Web site interface is very friendly i would say a rookie user would be able to go through all the step after watching some tutorial/videos and some common sense. 6.Response of the devise using web site interface is about 10 seconds so from my point of view if very fast and reliable (just used it about 30 time so far tho). 7.in specific case a zwave smart lock has been installed so far and is planned to install motion sensors, thermostats and a security camera (near future) which i planning to leave feed back too. Pros: Something that personally i appreciate was online support at selection moment, frequency availability. from hardware perspective: very intuitive for new user flexible and slick. from my personal point of view the fact that the internet connection is wired make me feel that connectivity and performance is more reliable that other controllers that are only wifi connected.. Fact that you can buy each accessory separately let the user create its own "security net" as required. I had high hopes for this unit, but it has done nothing more than irritate me. I installed two Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen, Wi-Fi Smart Locks at my home. Basic install is easy enough, but anyone, and I'm pretty sure I am not failing to include monkeys, can install a lockset after watching a video. So two stars for that part. But the reason for these locks is to make it so you can control your locks from anywhere, with your voice as well as with a push of a button. The fact that they have to have an August sending unit, running on it's own, was not said in the description or information. The lock, on it's own, CANNOT be operated from afar without this unit up and running on a continual basis. I got it to work some of the time. The other half of the time is spent trying to reconnect, and if you have someone waiting in sub-freezing temps outside that's a joke, and you might as well have just given them a key to make everyone's life easier. So in the install, you shove this little August third party sending unit in, then have to plug in the August third party receiving unit into an outlet within 5 feet, or it stops working. Then you program both the Yale phone app, and the August phone app to work with Google Home (if you are less than 65 and older than 24) or Alexa if you fall into the other categories. If you are unlucky enough to have a hub like Z-Wave, I don't think you've even read this far so I won't go there. Once everything is talking, then comes the fun part of Voice control. If you tell your Google/Alexa to unlock the front door it then asks for the pin code you set up in the 20 minute process, sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't understand "One" and you are locked out for 5 minutes for getting the code wrong. Hence the keys they send with the lock. Welcome back to 1995. So if you are looking for the affordable option, this is it! Affordable frustration. It locks itself when I leave fine, but might as well not even have an auto unlock feature for how poorly it works. Of the 2 weeks I've had it on my door, I think it's properly unlocked itself once. It either displays a notification for minutes saying it's unlocking (but takes longer than just getting the app open and hitting unlock from my phone, or just using the key) or never gives me a notification in the first place. It also is lacking basic settings. I should be able to lock the doors 60 seconds after closing them, but still have more than 60 seconds to get in from my car (which is likely part of why the thing never works). Nothing a file couldn't fix, still my Yale deadbolt didn't have that issue. Our door if facing south. When it's sunny, we can't see the display and I am talking January without snow brightness. It can't recognize my wife's fingerprints, none of 4 fingers. Also when we are outside and the deadbolt says something, twe can't hear what the speaker INSIDE is saying. I had to upgrade my ring video doorbell to a pro version as that’s the only way to bridge the locks to your WiFi and have remote access to lock and unlock your doors while away. Otherwise the locks connect via Bluetooth and you have to be right up on the lock to connect and function the lock. Even when you use the range boost feature. The 2 locks that I can get connected to my WiFi through the ring doorbell and Amazon sidewalk lose connection frequently so they are unreliable in a remote situation. I’ve spent time on the line with their support but it’s time consuming and not easy to fix. It’s still not fixed and level blames ring and ring blames level. I’m disappointed after spending over $1500 on all the locks in general but I can somewhat rely on the Bluetooth connection. I also had to do some woodwork to retro fit the locks during installation. Another lock on my garage gets hung up when locking and unlocking. I’ve readjusted it about 30 times before i got it right. The touch feature works 50% of the time. The software is not sophisticated enough for multiple locks. You would avoid a lot of my issues if you only needed 1 lock and never plan to have multiple level locks in your home. They are nice looking deadbolts. You honestly would never know they are smart locks. Lastly if you have multiple locks and you want to have 1 key to operate them all, you will need to spend about $500 on a locksmith to do it. They do not have smart technology for hard coding keys. It took me all of 20 min to swap out my old lock and door knob with the smart lock and a new knob. Once I had it installed and the batteries in, the setting up of the codes was also simple. Their directions are easy to understand, even for the least tech savvy people. Within the first few days of installing the smart lock, my wife and I had gone out and needed someone to go over a check on our dogs. I had already plugged in a separate code from our personal ones. I gave this code to our friends and they had no issue entering our home. This smart lock has helped us several more times while we were away. I had a hard time biting the bullet to buy this lock, but I am glad I did. The only thing I would recommend to Amcrest is to have more color options.
