Jami*** This lock was easy to install by removing my existing deadbolt and replacing with this one. The video was far more helpful than the provided written instructions. I was able to link this deadbolt up with ADT Pulse, even though it is not on the ADT approved list. I found that I did have to disconnect the interior assembly (with batteries installed) and take it very close to my Pulse system router (typically near your alarm system and battery back up) for Z Wave to recognize and add the lock. Once completing the setup within ADT I was able to install the interior assembly and unlock, lock and see the status using ADT Pulse. During the time I've had this lock Yale decided to split the Yale app into two versions - an international version and a US version. While I was happy using the US version of the app I was forced to change to the international app since this lock is physically located outside the US. This transition was not great. Now that I am using the international app I tried to contact support on an issue. The US Support will not assist since the device is outside the US and several channels to reach international technical support went without response. John F*** I wanted to upgrade my deadbolt. My brother in law got one of these so i wanted to do the same. The lock goes on quickly but the issue comes at the end. In the directions if you want to set up for wifi, they ask you for a serial number. The ap says the serial number is in the battery cover. After some work and some muted frustration I discovered that the serial number is on the back of the wi fi bridge (needed for wi fi - the one in the battery cover is not it). I told the yale people about that (they at first denied that but i said the fact that they should make that clearer). Now that it's up I'm happy with it. Just watch the serial number issue if you want to have wi fi service on the lock to manage from your phone. Also, careful when you install the module (piece of plastic with a computer chip that powers the lock). The little pins in it tend to bend and I had to straighten (it plugs in like smoke detectors). Connecting to the lock with the phone to set it up worked well. it would be nice if you could go back during the step, if you have a problem understanding what just happen and you want to go back it will not let you, but you can just start over and that is what I did. You have to install the lock which was nice because you only remove the inside thumb plate, then install the adapter plate for the lock/motor. I had the Lock, the connected bridge and the Smart Keypad. I found it easier to do one at a time. The only thing that was unclear was where to put the door sensor, I wound up with an extra hole in the door face because I miss understood where it went (OH Well! Nothing a little caulking want fix). We have been using it for about two week and it works great! If you have your hands full, no more reaching for keys or for the app on the phone, it just opens. We have had a smart lock for eight years and one of the problems we had was it would lock even when the door wasn't closed. With the sensor this should not happen, with the auto lock function which seems to work great only when the door is closed. Our son rides the bus home from school and has a problem with keys plus codes, so this thing works to unlock the door and let us know that he has made it home. Thanks August for such a nice produce.. But the stupid latch keeps getting stuck if you open the door like a normal person and don’t flick it to force it to bounce back. Also, I believe the plate behind the knob part should be vertical, but when I install it this way it is tight on the bottom and loose on the top. They were very prompt with debugging what was wrong and eventually sending a replacement part out. I replaced the replacement unit with one of the locks and now both of the locks work awesome. The power source modification took about 10 minutes to complete. The process was easy. But honestly it wasn't that hard to figure out if you're a handy or mechanically inclined. Setting up everything in the app wasn't too hard. Just got to becareful when you want to send a text code to someone you want to have access because they will charge you to do it through the app but you can do that for free if you select local message link to send via normal txt. When typing in your codeits not very clear that you have to make sure that the key pad numbers are lit up before it will except input of the keypad code. So just a heads-up on thay. Wifi It doesn't go into detail about the wifi adapter hub needed if want to integrate into a google/Alexa smart home network so you'll have to figure that one out on your own. Finger print The finger print reader is unfortunately a little finniki on angles on which it can read the finger print. So if you want to be able to use your finger print in a certain angle like 90° from vertical left or right at a horizontal level. You'll have to do a separate finger print scan for that same finger into the lock memory. Keys It includes 5 high security specialty keys that if you want spares made additionally to what comes with lock. You'll have to find a specialty lock Smith who can make them or tool to scan them to have them ordered. Now could the key cylinder be changed out for a more easily key style. Maybe... but that would really be up to a lock Smith to figure out. Not an average Joe like me. NFC Cards Now the NFC card tap will worth with any NFC card. I was to use a NFC game pass card from a local game pass place and set it up as a tap card entry pass. So the NFC card entry is very flexible when it comes to NFC cards that can be used. Areas for improvement are with the support for thicker modern doors (had to source longer screws to mount this to my iron doors), and several areas in the app. First time sign up in the app was glitchy, from incorrect text box types set on many fields (annoying), to password fields not playing nice with the keychain to allow strong password generation (more annoying) to the touchscreen keyboard refusing to show itself on one text field (unusable). Another issue was first time fingerprint registration. On all four locks I installed, the first time I tried to register a finger, it failed. Second time worked on two of the locks and the other two required 3 tries each. That said, once through the glitchiness, they have all performed flawlessly. Definitely watch the videos. The lock mechanism on the inside of the door is pretty big, a little larger than I had hoped as it looks huge on the back of the door. I would also note that the metal back mounting plate is flimsy. When I tightened the bolts on the lock mechanism it warped the plate slightly. They give you another screw to attach the top of the plate, but going into a metal door the screw isn't threaded properly to hold so I put a hole in my door for nothing. It would be okay in a wooden door I think. Also - it is critical that you "wake up" the outside key pad with your hand before using the code. The beeps for each keypad entry are almost inaudible outside so you really have to listen to make sure each press enters. That process is a little clunky. Fingerprint works very well. B08XNZWNH9 US

The in-app features are awesome when assigning house mates and guests with virtual keys and key codes. Managing them of incredibly easy and it supports timed removal (delete key after X days) . The lock works well, supporting NFC (Apple wallet and not having to unlock phone), Apple home kit, in-app, Key, and key codes. If you ever forget sometimes and need to know if you locked your door .
