I'll definitely be hanging on to the little coding manual for future reference if changes are needed. It doesn't take much power from the 4 AA alkaline batteries it runs on, with most of the power used going to the drive motor mechanism for the bolt. I also liked the option to set it to 'silent', although I opted to keep the sounds for the key presses so I could be sure I didn't accidentally press a key twice and mess up the codes while I was programming it. The self-charging perovskite solar panel keeps the lock powered even on cloudy days, which is nice because the door is under an overhang, so having a solar lock that can utilize low-light situations is a great thing. The built-in 10,000mAh backup battery is nice as well because even with the lowest light in the winter, the battery can hold a charge long enough that I don’t have to worry about it going dead. The 3D face recognition is fast and secure. It picks up my face instantly, in full sun and low-light conditions as well. The liveness detection is a nice touch, and the recognition range makes it easy for everyone in the family to use without awkward positioning. The curved fingerprint sensor is another standout. The shape gives better contact, and it reads all of our fingerprints more accurately than the flat sensors I’ve used before. Unlocking is quick and consistent. I like having multiple ways to get in: face recognition, fingerprint, voice assistant, remote Wi Fi unlocking, or even the mechanical key. The app notifications are helpful too, especially for keeping track of when kids get home, and to know if the kids let the dog out to use the restroom, or if they lied and just said they did. Build quality is solid. With local biometric storage, IP65 weatherproofing, and BHMA Grade certification, it feels like a lock made for real outdoor use, not something that’ll fail after one winter. The integrated solar panel looks clean and doesn’t add any bulky accessories. Installation was straightforward.
