My husband also used the l40 and loved that all around so we got the l60 for home. Installation was not 10 minutes. It would have been but the internal wire they use is very long so it kept bunching up on the locking mechanism so whenever you would go to lock it would jam and errors would arise. After I would say about 1 hour we finally got the wire in the perfect position so it wouldn't interfere with it. Now it works. Set up of the app didn't seem super difficult but I feel that it's being alittle finicky. Like this morning the app was saying unlocked but wouldn't let us lock it. It kept freezing. Finally door is locked and all is good right now. I did put the key on our key ring as a just incase. We also live in the Midwest so it does get cold here. So we shall see how this handles as time goes on. The fingerprint recognition I feel could be a little better. Had to redo it a few times. But maybe that was just us. I would say if you need a functional lock then go with this but be prepared you may have to mess with it for installation so it locks smoothly. Fingerprint reader works well and is easy to set up, it only requires four scan passes to acquire a fingerprint. Fingerprints can be named. Little RFID cards work well, I labeled mine with numbers on the back that coincide with numbers I labeled for each in the app. Beeping is strong and loud so you get a clear audible signal when the keypad buttons are touched and when the lock actuates. Backlighting is nice and bright. App seems to be very well made, I like that it gives you a battery percentage of the battery life remaining. I also appreciate that you can set expiration dates for any of the unlocking methods such as fingerprints, pins or the RFID tags. This way if you want to grant someone temporary access or even recurring access the app allows you to configure that. I like the quality instructions that have pictures along with the dedicated frequently asked questions guide. A nice precise template is also provided for door modifications to accommodate the lock. Backup power capability and physical key give you peace of mind that you will have access even if the batteries fail. Cons: only downside I have found so far is that when you want to communicate with the lock from the app you have to keep the lock awake or it quickly times out and the app loses connection. For example, whenever I was setting up the RFID key tags I would have to hit a button on the touchpad to keep it lit up so that the connectivity was maintained. On the same note, when I tried to do the firmware update even though I had initiated that update and communications had been established the lock went to sleep before the app started pushing the firmware to the lock. I had to restart the process over and keep touching a finger to the fingerprint reader to keep the lock awake. Once I did that though, the firmware updated without issue. It misses once and a while, but it's usually due to a weird finger placement on my part. As you can see, it isn't just guessing; it really knows your print that is programmed. The lock part is thick enough that slide-up lockers can't be just forced open (as can happen with cable-style locks). It is very sturdy and a small enough size that I don't see it being in the way of anything. It doesn't give when I pull as hard as I can, and doesn't have a bypass. We tried the August Smart Lock and unfortunately it didnt work. Sending keys to guest was too much of a process and sometimes the lock unlocked while we were in the house. Who knows if it did that while we were away. So, we decided to give Kevo a shot. Instillation was a little more difficult, since you have to replace your entire deadbolt. I was not a huge fan of this, since we just had our locks rekeyed and now the front door and back door don't match. Once we got it setup and installed it immediately started working. Setting up an account is pretty quick. Our Kevo works the majority of the time. There have been a few instances where I have to use a physical key, but its never once unlocked on its own. We have also grated some friends eKeys and its works perfectly. They even commented on how cool it is. There are a few features that are missing, but I hear they are working on developing them right now. Locking and unlocking from the iPhone app and checking the status of your lock remotely. If you're not good at math, that means that about 50% of the time I'm pissed off at the lock. I have three wifi APs in my 1700 sqft home with the hub within 3 feet. No excuse why this thing sucks. I can stream 4k all over the house. Keep in mind that Alexa commands are limited also.
