The sound is great, they are comfortable, having the notches in the head band for hats is brilliant, they are durable and not bad looking. The only thing that bothers me is that the bluetooth reception is weak. With my phone in my pocket I will lose sound if I turn my head the wrong way or twist away from the source. A 2x wood board in-between your phone and the headphones results in a loss of sound and I carry and lean over these regularly for framing. These are miles better than any other hearing protection headphones with speakers that I have used when they work but unfortunately for me as a carpenter they are slightly frustrating. The reason I was searching for something wireless and purchased these is because I ruin auxiliary cords regularly while working and get tired of the cord yanking out when it gets caught on something. 3 Excellent quality, but....... acm*** Purchased these for my wife 5yrs ago and they're still going strong. Downside is they're really only good when shooting rimfire. The reduction in sound is not good at all. The cheap red Harbor Freight muffs do a better job at reducing the Db level then these. I would not recommend these for any centerfire pistol or rifle. Most earmuffs I have owned muffle the highs and don't block the bass that much (you also conduct through your bones, further limiting the bass attenuation), giving this rumbly sound that is unpleasant over long periods of time. Most if not all earmuffs will do this to some extent so my main interest was the specific sound signature of the Peltor series. I received the X2A today and tried it on. So far I am very impressed by the sound signature. It actually sweetens the muffled sound. I'll have to test it further (and note that I have not tried the other models) but for now I can say it beats other models that I have owned by a long shot. I am especially interested to try it in the car because my stereo has weak output below 500hz and these earphones attentuate less - guess where - below 500hz, effectively boosting the bass and lowering the background noise level (but not so much that I can't hear honking, traffic, etc).
