Setup has a wide number of options some of which were not clearly explained but if you go with the defaults, it is good enough. I chose to modify the defaults and included much more depth of information and therefore a larger SD card was required. After 2 weeks of use, I saw a flashing light and a repeating tone from the device - little information about troubleshooting was available from the vendor, it mostly said reset the device (not what I would have desired). I removed the camera, let it cool off (in the sun on the windshield) then checked the SD card. Found that the system had self reset and I spent a few minutes reinstalling my preferences and copied the latest file on the sd-card then reinstalled it. everything worked as expected. I thought it was a touch screen (it's not) but the menu buttons are clearly marked and easy to use. I was able to set resolution, turn off audio recording and set the record loop time with ease. As you can see I didn't set the date but that's not very important to me - I'll get around to it. I love that it's USBc because I didn't have to run a new cable since one was already there from my old dash cam that we moved to another vehicle. Not entirely sure about the wifi connection thing to the app; but I've plugged the microSD into an SD reader and re-viewed video on a larger desktop from that. Customer service is amazing. Contacted them after the warranty expired for help in purchasing a new bolt for the mount (can't find the exact one and their specs aren't that detailed in the package itself); they sent me a whole new mount at no charge; so I'm never leaving this company. While you can buy VIOFO's, you can also buy one from another good brand, just make sure that it's rated for cameras/dashcams. The app isn't the smoothest experience ever, but it works. If you're not a fan of it, it's super easy to just take the SD card out when you need it. If you don't have any issues with the app, it's really neat to be able to scroll through and see your previous footage without having to touch the camera. I've owned two of these cameras, and both have experienced the same types of reliability issues: overheating, crashing, randomly stopping recording, failing to boot properly, and sometimes appearing to work normally only to stop recording again later. Over time I replaced cables, tried different SD cards, reformatted cards, checked connections, reset the cameras, and spent more money trying to eliminate everything else as the cause. At some point you have to stop blaming accessories and accept that the cameras themselves simply aren't reliable. Reading through the other negative reviews now is especially frustrating because I'm seeing people describe the exact same problems I've experienced — overheating, crashes, boot loops, cameras randomly stopping recording, SD card issues, and units becoming increasingly unreliable over time. When these cameras work, the video quality is good. Unfortunately, that doesn't matter if you can't trust them to actually be recording when something happens. That's the part I can't overlook with a dash camera. The entire purpose of this product is to quietly and reliably record in the background so the footage is there when you need it. I shouldn't have to regularly check whether my dash camera has crashed, overheated, failed to boot, or simply stopped recording without me realizing it. Both of mine are now out of warranty, and after spending more than $708 between the two cameras and everything I've purchased trying to keep them working, I don't even want to waste more time or money attempting to have them repaired. Even if they were repaired, I no longer trust them enough to put them back in my vehicles. Two cameras, more than $708 invested, and neither one is reliable enough to perform the basic job I bought it for. I regret how much money and time I've put into these and will be replacing them with cameras from another manufacturer.
