They all seem to be variations of the same increasingly flimsy tower. This one, however, managed to distinguish itself. The base comes in TWO PIECES. Yes. The part whose primary purpose is to provide stability is literally split down the middle. The result is far and away the least stable, worst-balanced cat tower I have ever owned. Two fingers and a light push makes the entire thing sway alarmingly. I genuinely cannot understand how anyone looked at this design and thought, “Yep, that’ll hold up a six-foot tower full of cats.” It’s terrible. Unfortunately, my cats absolutely LOVE it. It has tons of places to sleep, and the enormous hammock is genuinely unique and apparently the greatest invention in feline history. So instead of returning this disaster, we now have 100 pounds of sandbags sitting on the base, which has successfully made it almost as sturdy as one of our other cat towers that accomplished the same thing through the revolutionary engineering concept of having a solid base. 72.4" Modern Cat Tower for Indoor Cats - Multi-Level Condo With Caves, Tall Tree With Scratching Board, Wooden Tower With Large Perch, Removable Pads, Rustic Brown 1 Absolutely horrible to put together and NOT sturdy M. *** This cat tree may be nice to look at from the photos but it is a nightmare to put together if you are doing it yourself. Every. Single. Part of this cat tree has to be assembled. Everything. It was the second worst cat tree I’ve ever put together - and I’ve put together probably 10-15 cat trees - at least- for myself and family. The second highest shelf would NOT connect (screws would not go in) without squeezing (manipulating) the metal frame to contort the shelf/screw holes/screws into acquiescence. As a result, the second shelf is off kilter and not level. One of the cats (four in the house currently), and the lightest one at 14 pounds, moved from the top bed to the second shelf and it bowed under her weight. It does NOT seem as though this will be long lasting. Once the ‘big boy’ (20 pounds) cat tries to do the same, I wonder if it will support his weight. And two of the cats that are so rambunctious they cause other trees to rock and roll as they run up them in a zoomie fit - I wonder if that shelf will be able to hold the pressure of jumping down from them. While the cat tree may be aesthetically pleasing to the eye for some, it is NOT a quality piece that will last a long time. The spot this cat tree was put in is a highly desirable place in front of a window with a window bird feeder. Cats vie for space in the tree that was moved to make way for this one. Currently, no cats are in the tree. It has been two hours and no cats are in it. The female cat is usually curious and gets on every cat tree as I’m building it. This one? No interest after the initial short exploration that was forced on her - I was moving the cat tree she was in and put this one next to her so she could jump on it. Within moments of me putting in the space the other tree had been in, she jumped down (causing the bowing issue mentioned earlier). She has not been back and is now in the cat tree that had been in that spot originally. The height is fine. The cushions are adequate softness - although not very plush - and are velcroed to the shelves (after assembly of the cat tree is complete). The instructions are incredible. Very large sheets stapled together with clear diagrams that are numbered and detailed. A tiny negative is that the screws etc are not Do I think this is a good value for the money? Absolutely not.
