His old tree was a hand-me-down from my sister's cat who never used it (pictured in 2nd photo). So I figured maybe it's time to finally buy a new one that will be easy for him to climb. My 4 stars is because the top bit was squished in the box so it looks lopsided. It's not hard material like the old tree and I think this contributes to why my boy won't lay in it. I reckon he feels unsafe with the soft, easily moveable sides. It was also annoying to assemble because I had to go by a picture from 1 angle and it didn't offer actually directions. There is always a correct order to assemble pieces and if I don't have directions, I ALWAYS do it wrong and it requires me to basically take the whole thing apart and build it a second time. Which is what happened here. Aside from this though, it's very stable unlike the old one. And the material is very soft and both my cats love the scratch posts. Binky, however, was very upset with me for moving his old tree into my bedroom and the new one where the old one used to be. He raised absolute h*ll for about a week until I decided to compromise. I put the new one next to his old one so he use the steps to climb in. Which he almost always does so yay! In the end, I more or less was able to use this for the original intent. Neither of my cats want to lay in the bed part which is a shame. My other cat Deedee did lay in it until I put the old one back. I really wish the sides of the bed where like a hard material with the soft stuff on top so it would keep its shape. I think they just think they will fall out of the sleep in it. The other one, though, is a bit of a scaredy cat so that is not entirely the fault of the tree. The tree itself is very nice. There are many little cubbies and long napping spots that are ideal for a cat of any size. The fuzzy material that covers the tree is nice--very soft, cats will like it just fine. The cat tree when fully assembled doesn't take up much space so it's great in your apartment or house, so long as you have a wall to place it near. There are two criticisms I have that bump this down from a five-star to a four-star, since it does make for a pretty nice cat tree. My first criticism is assembly: easy for the most part, but you should definitely make sure you check the screws. There are three types, and two of them are only 5mm length apart. Easy to mix them up. The advertisement photos show the tree sitting in the middle of a room, but you should place it against a wall to secure the anchor. The hammock at the bottom was rough to get on. The clips are very tight. Last thing is it looks like in the manual I should have hooks to tie up the little jingle balls, but I didn't see them. I don't want a replacement or anything, just pointing it out. The other criticism is the tree design. The mid-level basket is cute, but so far it seems a bit awkward for a cat to use it to go between bottom and top. It may just be my cats though. The lower levels are also a bit high, in my opinion, compared to the tree I had before. I recommend it if you're looking for a big cat tree. B0DGKR5MMP US

It's two pieces of plywood held together by carpet. But it seems to hold for now. The split on the top is supported by the the shorter scratch leg and a washer. And the bottom was less concerning because it's supported by the floor. There is a little bit of instability on the top shelf. Even though everything is tight I notice it rock back to front a bit when my cats roll around, one more than the others because he's a chonk. They still seem to enjoy it quite a bit, the top shelf being extra long really let's them stretch out and it sits at about the same height as the top of the couch's arm allowing them to sleep close to me without stealing my foot space. The lower areas also become great hide spots for when things get too loud (thunderstorms/fireworks/unexpected guests) because it's between the couch and wall giving it feeling if extra safety. The enclosed part of the house, was a bandeau with a hole cut in it. At first I didn't think it would fit, but it stretched out around the supporting posts without a problem. It does create an interesting attack angle though. The cats can stick their paws through the bottom, the top has a little extra coverage from the lip of the cat bed cover above. LadiSil*** The foot print of this cat tree is neither large enough or weighted enough for more than one full sized cat. It's a shame because my cats love the configuration of this tree. They also like to fight each other (playfully) while on it, there in lays the largest amount of design flaw. You can see how unsteady the tree is when a single cat jumps from the bed to the top of the tree, the tree rocks back and forth a lot. The tree is at the very end of my bed, so it's only a foot of clearance to the top. I can only imagine how much worse it would be if they jumped from the floor and if it wasn't supported by the bedframe as well. But when there is a cat on top and a cat in the basket below the top cat leans over the edge to bap the lower cat. The whole tree slipped! Luckily, again, it's against the bed and the bed supported it preventing it from going to the floor. We are going to look at weighting it down to prevent such events in the future. If you are looking for a tree for kittens to under 6 months old cats, this could probably still work okay. I would still weight it for safety but their weight probably wouldn't be enough to tip it.
