So you have to disconnect the camera head from the mount, partially screw in the screws (which I used hex head screws so I could tighten them with a wrench), and then hold the camera with one hand while feeding the cables into the mount and out the back pulling them through the side and then reattach the camera to the mount. Minus 1 star for the CamHiPro app. It's very difficult to work the pan/tilt either using the controls or sliding finger on the screen as the camera moves too quick and overshoots what you are trying to see in the videos. Tracking objects the camera moves wildly trying to focus on what it's seeing. Finding what you want to view is klunky too as far as picking videos to watch. Also there is a feature to enter a code, hit SET and then CALL to change certain things. This is 50 year old technology and could be done with the app if they worked on it. The zoom of videos isn't 50x either but no idea what it is as it's not documented that I've found. Alarms are limited. Other apps do better. The manual is sparse on information and having to look at online vs printed information is frustrating. I had to dig for answers. The good: I got this one because it seemed it would have better clarity video which it does vs a Eufy or a Reolink that I already have and neither can read a license plate at 30 yards. Once I can pause the video in the app and get to the point where I can try to read a license plate it works. I have several wireless security cameras outside my house, and some of them are located a considerable distance from the building. The combination of that distance and the exterior wall between the cameras and my router was creating a weak connection. The video was not consistently clear and would frequently become pixelated, which had become extremely annoying. My solution was to run an Ethernet cable from my existing router to this access point and position the AP where it could provide substantially better wireless coverage toward the cameras. Configuration was relatively straightforward, particularly for someone who has previously worked with access points and basic network settings. The Omada management environment offers far more configuration options than I actually need for this particular application, but I appreciate having those capabilities available rather than being limited by an overly simplified consumer interface. I also specifically checked whether this really qualifies as Wi-Fi 7 rather than simply using Wi-Fi 7 terminology in the product name. The specifications identify IEEE 802.11be support and operation across the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands, together with Wi-Fi 7 technologies such as Multi-Link Operation and 4K-QAM. The listed combined theoretical wireless capacity places it in the BE11000 class, so this is genuinely Wi-Fi 7 hardware rather than simply an older access point marketed under a newer name. I cannot personally verify anything close to the maximum advertised throughput with my current network, and I think that distinction is important. My router has Gigabit Ethernet, while my fiber Internet service provides only 300 Mbps, so my existing network becomes the bottleneck long before I can test the full capability of the 2.5GbE port. Maximum benchmark speed, however, was never the reason I wanted this access point. What mattered to me was signal quality, and that is where the improvement has been dramatic. After installing the AP, I checked the wireless signal information reported in the configuration of my outdoor cameras and could see a substantial increase in signal strength. More importantly, the difference is obvious during actual use: the pixelation that I was regularly seeing in the camera video has disappeared completely. That was exactly the problem I was trying to solve, so from that standpoint the installation has been a complete success. Another detail I really appreciate is how complete the mounting hardware is. Everything needed for a permanent ceiling or wall installation is included, with the mounting components, screws, bolts, and anchors for different types of surfaces, including drywall as well as masonry or concrete applications. The mounting system appears very thoughtfully designed, so someone who wants the access point permanently attached to a vertical surface or ceiling should not have to improvise the installation. Interestingly, I did not use any of that mounting hardware myself. My plan from the beginning was much simpler: the access point sits freely on top of a tall cabinet. From below it is essentially out of sight, while its elevated position works perfectly for what I wanted to accomplish. I therefore had no reason to drill the wall or ceiling, but I still appreciate that the complete hardware is there if I decide to mount it permanently later. I also like having both DC and PoE+ powering options. The included DC adapter makes a conventional installation possible without requiring PoE equipment, while PoE+ provides another useful option for a more permanent network installation. Together with centralized management, mesh and roaming capabilities, this gives me considerably more room to expand or reconfigure my home network in the future. For my home, I did not need a complicated mesh deployment or hundreds of connected clients. I needed a powerful wired access point that could provide stronger wireless coverage toward several difficult-to-reach outdoor cameras, and that is exactly what this has accomplished. My current Gigabit router and 300 Mbps Internet connection do not allow me to explore the full performance potential of its 2.5GbE interface or Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, but that does not prevent me from benefiting from the much stronger signal where I actually need it. Considering the straightforward setup, extensive configuration options, flexible power and mounting choices, genuine Wi-Fi 7 hardware, and most importantly the complete elimination of the camera-video pixelation that prompted me to install it, I give this access point five stars. Amazon C*** I ordered two of these cameras. The first one I used right away, worked great. The second one I didn't use for months because I didn't know where I was going to put it. So almost 5 months later I put it up. It would not record or notify. I sent texts at least 4 x to techs. Everyone checked my settings which were correct. I tried all their suggestions and it still didn't work, wouldn't record. Finally they gave me my money back and I ordered another one. Got it really quick! Charged it up and set it up with all the settings. My husband put it up and low and behold it worked. I had done nothing wrong to begin with the camera was defective. So I wasn't going to give up on a brand new camera that had never been used not work. So if it doesn't work get a new one. Now I am happy. It takes a nice picture and recording. So I do recommend it. The camera is solid, well built. The options for it available are incredible. You can choose photo/video quality, set motion movement range or no motion movement. You can choose from preselected times for camera to run, let in run 24/7 or set your own schedule. Allows screen shots has cloud storage or TF card or both. The key for me is they work with my Alexa show so I can watch my dogs and front door on my Alexa. The vision is crystal clear. Great for security and looks nice not like a cheap piece of plastic.
