Online research indicates these typically run in the 80-120Mbps range. My issue is probably due to electrical noise from the various switching power supplies around the house (cell phone chargers, power bricks for routers, speakers, cable boxes, computers, etc.) I have found some noise filters but most of them take up both plugs on the wall outlet preventing me from connecting my powerline adapter direct to the wall. Would have been great if I could find the power line adapter with a filtered pass through port similar to what Monster does with their discontinued PowerNet 200 and 300 products which are not available with the 500Mbps HomePlug AV2 standard. If anyone has recommendations for good powerline noise filters to go with these, please post! All of my power outlets are standard single gang, two port residential. I need to be able to filter one plug while also connecting the powerline adapter to the other plug. UPDATE:6/10/2014: Something has changed recently. I have found my set running more often in the 80Mbps+ range. Upon loading the PowerLine Utility, I find my connections are running better. One connection is currently at 337Mbps which is in the next room on the same circuit but is only serving a basic IP Camera I use as a baby monitor. The other connection is feeding downstairs to where my internet connection and file server are on a different power circuit, running in the 90-110Mbps range. This connection was originally running (based on the LED) less than 48Mbps most of the time and occasionally 48-80Mbps range. The design of the HomePlug AV and AV2 is supposed to bridge the two phases of the power line by virtue of an electromagnetic coupling (bleeding effect if you will) across the legs on the 240V circuits, but there is a significant drop in speed because there is no solid metal connection between the legs other than when a 240V appliance is running (rarely.) According to the description, the HomePlug signal stops at the power meter, not sure how since the meter doesn't provide any kind of filtering. I wouldn't mind information on a device for bridging the signal across the phases either at the power meter (preferred) or at the dryer or stove in order to increase performance. My father has installed a 600V (will update with value later today) ceramic capacitor across a 240V circuit in his breaker box in order to bridge X10 signals across his home, however I have not tried this in my home with the HomePlug kit. A circuit breaker option may also be able to include or operate in tandem with whole home power filtering and/or conditioning, although I understand I'm reaching for the clouds at this point. Heat Storm Sahara 1500 Watt Infrared Space Heater 5 Works well, quite and effective Ha*** Obviously this isn't the cheapest option available but we are happy with it. We have been using it to keep our nursery warmer than the rest of the house at night this winter. This heater is extremely useful for this purpose because it regulates itself with its own thermostat. It will operate at high power if necessary but will generally switch on and off at lower power to maintain a steady temperature. Our home's furnace runs on a schedule that allows the house to cool significantly at night before warming again around the time we get up. With this space heater we don't have to worry about continually making adjustments to make sure the temp in the nursery is correct.(as we would have to if it was like most other space heaters with a simple knob or low-med-high settings.) All in all we are quite happy with the product. A few observations: The heater sits on the floor and so obviously its thermostat reads the temperature close to the floor. (typically a lower reading) The thermometer on our baby monitor consistently reads higher than the one on the heater, but that really isn't an issue so long as they are consistent. (we just set the thermostat on the heater a few degrees lower than we want the room) This heater has a fan to circulate air through itself. This allows the heater to more effectively heat large spaces. (It claims to be capable of heating ~1,000 sq ft, which I can't vouch for) The fan is quiet but it is audible. The heater also makes some clicking noises when it kicks on and off. The heating element glows red in operation... this heater actually puts out quite a bit of light, particularly when running on high. The light/warmth are pleasant but if you want things pitch black be aware that this heater doubles as a night-light when on. (which means intermittently off and on if it is set to maintain a temperature) The heater's shell is primarily plastic but it feels solid and durable. It sits on four legs close to the ground and would be very difficult to tip over. There is a handle at the top for easy movement and it is not heavy. B00JEV5UI8 US

Wanted 5ghz because the baby monitor runs on 2.4 and wanted to transition all our devices to the new ac router. Its only 20ft from the router so no big signal loss problems. I have had no issues with it connecting or staying connected. We don't transfer files or have any media servers or anything on our network so I can't comment on max speed. It just has to deliver our 25mbps internet traffic, which it does great. I've seen no difference between this and a direct Ethernet cable to the router. And you can't beat the price. One negative for me is that it says the antenna rotates, but it really only "swings" in relation to the orientation of the USB plug. Ie if you plug it into a horizontal USB port the antenna will be vertical or you can swing it down to point straight back, but you can not rotate the antenna to point right or left. So it can potentially take up a lot of space or block other ports on the back of your PC. I had an extra 2 USB ports on the back of my case away from all the other ports, so it wasn't an issue. But if I only had the USB ports on the motherboard available this would have partially blocked one of the other usb ports and obscured the Ethernet port. So this is something to bear in mind. I understand the documentation needs from using chat or email but the help quality isn't nearly as good now. It is also very confusing on their site on opening a ticket for a problem. The app does hang up often but I refresh it and the app usually pulls up the feed. I like the sound quality and mic although I don't use it much. The classic winner was the Wyze V2, and their new front runner the Wyze V3 is a quality product as well. Having owned both of those, I can tell you I strongly prefer the Eufy 2K greatly. It’s not perfect, but the overall usefulness just excels. First, having 1440p vs 1080p is extremely useful not only for the better picture quality over the Wyze units, but also better connectivity. I can only assume the Eufy is built to have more bandwidth that the Wyze units, so I connect to the cams faster and there is less delay between live/actual and recorded/displayed footage. This is fairly imperative when we are using this cam as a baby monitor rather than just a home security. On the same note, I find the App much smoother, and while Wyze is drastically expanding, the Eufy 2K doorbell also is our current favorite and smoothly displays on Alexa/Android devices (namely TVs). The Wyze V3 does have some advantages, like “color” night vision and weatherproofing, but those functions have very limited usefulness for our applications. If you’re trying to use a <$30 cam for true home security, you’re already setting yourself up for failure, so why even try? These are better as home monitors, for checking the pets, kids, babysitter, etc. So, if these are on sale again, I will buy them (aiming for the $20/cam). My only advice is buying quality longer USB cords so they can reach places you’d like. But they are really clean when setup. Quick final mention is install, the Wyze cams and their magnets had the unfortunate quality of being able to be “ripped” off with the lightest touch of our kids, while the eufy has yet to be dismounted from the screwed in baseplate. At $30, it packs a lot of useful features. Setup: Really easy. Camera can be set upright on any surface, or mounted to a wall. There is a tiny template for drilling/attaching/installing the small mounting piece. The camera is entirely controlled via the NetVue app. You need to create a NetVue account -- you can login w/Google or FB, or create a NetVue login. Following the included instructions, connection to Wifi was a snap. The app finds the camera, prompts the wifi/setup info, and you're instantly monitoring. You must be connected to the same wifi network. Controls: Very easy. The app includes a virtual 'pad' to rotate the camera side to side, and horizon to horizon. You can view in portrait or landscape mode. You can only rotate on one axis at a time, but you can get an entire 360 view around the camera. The middle button of the virtual pad will take a snapshot of the scene and save to the app. There may be some lag depending on your connection. In a good spot around my home, the camera is very responsive -- there is always going to be a *slight* delay since you are controlling and monitoring via your wifi network, but it's negligible if you're just focusing on one general area. By contrast, in a weaker part of my home, there is a significant delay, and some choppiness to the feed -- this is not an issue with the camera nor the app, as my phone loses and reconnects frequently in this area. Please keep that in mind if you're experiencing significant lag/choppiness. There is also a built-in speaker in the camera which you can speak through via the app. Quality: I want to stress that for $30, you should not expect super high resolution and smooth motion like you're watching a professional live television feed. You get a good, clear picture, real-time motion monitoring, and good screen captures. You can change between Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) modes, though the HD may be limited by your wifi speed/connection. Same goes for audio clarity through the speaker. WIth a good connection, you can hear what was said clearly. App: The app includes a *lot* of features and functionality. You can add an SD card to the camera to save recordings and replay via the app. There is also an option to use NetVue's cloud storage, which requires purchasing one of their cloud storage plans. There are links to a helpful forum, an FAQ, and contact information for support. There is Alexa integration. You can share device feed/controls with another NetVue user, set up a sleep mode schedule, and toggle night vision on/off. Night Vision & Motion Detection: Night Vision works very well. I tried in a dark room with some ambient lighting coming from another room, and the camera still broadcast a very clear b/w picture. It will switch automatically when it detects very low light. Motion Detection works great. The app will take a short video/screenshot of any motion it detects and then send a notice to your phone. Make sure you allow "Notifications" in the app itself (iPhone) in order to receive Motion alerts. You can limit to people, pets, vehicles, and many other choices, or simply detect "all" motions. Overall: Great little device for the price. Would work perfect as an indoor security cam, a baby monitor, a pet monitor, etc. I personally bought it to watch and get alerts on when the squirrels that live outside our place come by for a visit -- but, I would not recommend mounting and leaving this outdoors. It is not weather proof, and it is not meant for outdoor wear & tear. But, if you have a safe spot where you can mount and leave it, it will function just fine.
