EOT Wireless Dash 2 Update: Great, BUT... Tabb*** Great Mount, like I have found almost all of prior iOttie Mounts - been a fan for years. This attaches to car easily in 1 of several locations, holds your phone very sturdy, yet is easy to place and remove your phone. - ergonomically much better than all of the other cradles I have tried. There are a few downsides to this one. As others have said, with the IPhone X, you have to be careful, the first time you set this up, that you hit the sweet spot in positioning so it charges at the maximal rate. With navigation on, it will lose charge but very slowly. Also, the built in cable is a nice design, but my cable (or it's connection with the cigarette charger piece) stopped working after 2 weeks. Personally, I'd rather it have 2 slots I can replace the cable if needed, rather than the 1 slot and built in cable, but I understand the concept. I actually lost the screw on the back to set the height of the brackets that hold up the phone (wasn't expecting it to come out when I loosened it - and have no idea where in the car it ended up), but a call to iOttie, asked if they could send me a screw, and they sent me a whole new unit! Great service. It was a good thing, because when my built in cable stopped working, I had a replacement, which has worked fine thus far. Update: So iOttie sent me that replacement quickly. That's the plus. However... The NEW unit lighter plug with built in cable also stopped working after a month. Figured - product forget it - product defect, so I'll just use a dual Anker cigarette charger I already had with my own cable. Sweet! Until... About 3 months later, the micro-USB connector in back of the Phone Mount (female) became loose, and very finicky about actually charging, and a few weeks after that, the cable would not even stay in. And it's not like I EVER took it in or out - it stayed plugged in. Just must have torqued when I put the phone in or took it off. But, hey, I have ANOTHER new one from the set they gave me for the new cable. Sweet! Until... Now 6 months later, that one has also failed to hold in the USB charging cable. Now all of it is trash. If it were a $15 product, getting 6 months out of each I guess would be OK; but for $50, to have defects in both the plug charger and the mount, is not cool. Time to look for another manufacturer. So we wanted something lightweight as well as durable. I was worried that it wouldn’t be very weather resistant but the packaging gives it an IP66 rating, so that should good enough for hard rain. I don’t plan on submerging it, which it is not rated for. It comes with a USB Charging Cable with a nice Velcro cable management ribbon on the cable. Seems sturdy enough. It also comes with a USB plug, which feels a little lightweight—like hollow—and therefore has the sense of feeling cheap. Now for the headlamp! The headlamp straps are adjustable, and it’s easy to adjust. There’s also two long strip of silicone beads around the front area to prevent slippage. That is a nice touch. The white headlamp LED has an ultra low, medium and high setting. I’ve attached some pictures. The red LED has three settings ultra low, high and blinking. There is no plastic piece to prevent the top buttons from being pressed but you can hold both buttons for 3 seconds until a red LED blinks through the semi-opaque buttons, to lock them, before packing it. Then when you take it out you hold them both again for 3 seconds until the low LED light turns on. There’s also an SOS setting I believe. The headlamp is impact resistant to a meter. Charging took about two hours. According to instructions the lowest setting 1 lumen will last about 160 hours 3 meter distance, mid 38 lumens for 8 hours 27m, high 190 lumens 5 hours 81m. The board itself is a little difficult to type on if you’re using it for any sort of regular desk/school work. The left side Shift key is only half the size I’m used to (other boards). So if you’re used to having the shift be at least two buttons wide this takes some adjustment. The Enter (return) button is also an odd shape, which too, takes some adjusting. Be prepared for a lot of typos. The phone holder is a great addition and provides ample space for the phone and any charging cables. There is some sort of timer or inactive sensor that automatically turns off all lights/animation if the board isn’t used for a while. If the board is still plugged-in, you can keep typing as usual as one quick touch of any button will reactivate the lights. Be forewarned, if you extend the legs the function row and top row of keys can be difficult to see during the day. If you know your keys and use the board with backlight at night there is no problem.
