For the car, in addition to your standard jumper cables, ice scraper (for our one yearly ice event in Central Texas), and blanket, I’ve gotten a light up hazard square that can also be a backup charger, and various other small items. In thinking about possible emergency car scenarios, I’ve wondered about a having a dead battery when no one else (no other car) was around to jump it. So a few weeks ago, I saw briefly saw a video, it was just a snippet and don’t really remember any of it other than it was something about using a rechargeable battery to jump a car. Then last week, this listing popped up on Amazon. I don’t know if these have been around for a while and I’m too much of an oldster to know about them, or if they are a relatively new product. But I jumped (no pun intended) on ordering one to add to my car emergency supplies. It is amazingly compact and lightweight. It also looks rugged, in the sense that it looks like you could drop it, or even throw it, and it wouldn’t break. I charged it overnight and then looked through the manual. At first I didn’t see that it actually has a power button in the middle-top of the top face - it was blending in, and I was disappointed that I couldn’t even get the flashlight function to work. But once I found the “On” button, things came together! I also tested using it as a power bank for my phone and that works. I have not tried using it to jump my car because I haven’t needed it. And frankly, I hope I don’t ever need it! But all the parts are there and stored in the little storage bag and I am ready!
