And that happens to be all I need for now. I notice the app does offer some additional features which I have no use. But the additional symbols are there if you ever need them. I do notice one thing good about this labeler. You can roll back the empty label(s) past the cutter so you can re-use them. It takes a little effort but those empty labels can be saved. I bought a new pack of batteries and when came time to print a Second label, I get the message “battery draining.” That’s the warning that pops up after fresh new batteries are inserted. I was able to print one time. And the fresh batteries died. I’ll buy a new labeler and use this until then. I hate to throw it away. Also the screen is easily scratched up. It's the newer TZE tape, which is the stuff all the new Ptouches use that is more environmentally friendly : less plastic, contains 5% recycled plastic, smaller packaging, and uses energy efficient film ribbon. Fortunately, it's backward compatibles to all the older P-touches that used TZ tape! As I understand it, the TZ tapes are no longer sold. Looks about the same as the original, nice black text on white tape, and adheres well. Text comes out black and easy to read, with no smudging or fudging. The design is also easier to peel than the original EZ tapes, which sometimes could be a bit of a pain. TZE-231 Label Maker Tape TZ Tape 12mm 0.47 Laminated Black on White 1/2" 4 Tape Works Great — Tip for Removing Stubborn Backing TechC*** This third-party TZ-style tape works well in my Brother P-Touch 1180. The cassette fits my printer perfectly. It was easy to install it into the chamber. This tape supports printing black text on a glossy white background and looks just like labels made with OEM tape. Nowhere on the cassette or outer packaging does it state the length of the tape in meters. However, the spool inside looks quite full (see my close-up photo), so I am assuming it matches standard OEM lengths. Given the price, it still feels like a good value. My only quibble is that the split-back paper liner is VERY difficult to remove. Even though the backing is split down the center, it was adhered so firmly that I was unable to separate it. As I was getting frustrated, it occurred to me to try dragging the paper side of the tape along the edge of a scissor blade much like you do when curling ribbon for gift wrapping. After dragging the tape across the scissor two or three times, a tiny separation between the paper backing and the plastic label finally appeared. I’ve included a close-up photo that hopefully illustrates what I’m describing. Because of the stubborn backing, I’ve deducted one star from what otherwise would be a five star rating. B0BBT7ZFBY US

TZE-231 Label Maker Tape TZ Tape 12mm 0.47 Laminated Black on White 1/2" 5 Three 1/2 inch Tze231 black ink on white tape G*** These labels have worked really well for me. They print nice and clean, and the black lettering on the white tape is easy to read without looking cheap or fuzzy. The tape itself feels durable and the laminated finish is a nice bonus, especially for anything that might get wet or handled a lot. I also really like the split backing. It makes peeling the labels much easier and saves a lot of messing around trying to get the backing started. Once they’re stuck down, the adhesive holds well and I haven’t had any problems with them lifting at the edges. I’ve used them on different surfaces and they’ve stayed put without leaving a bunch of sticky residue behind when removed. They’re great for organizing bins, containers, folders and all those little things that are hard to keep track of. Overall, these are a very good replacement for the name-brand tape and have worked just as I expected. Good print quality, strong adhesive, easy to peel and plenty durable. I’d definitely recommend them.
