I would use it that way when I'm sitting in my car waiting for someone to come out from the grocery store so I don't have to run my air conditioner. I can use it when I sit outside on my porch with my dogs on really hot days and I have to wait for them to do their thing. If you go to a park or to an outdoor concert or festival, this would definitely come in handy. It is made of a very sturdy plastic. The part where the fan is is heavier than the case that it goes into. The blades are made of rubber like material. There are two of them but boy do they put out the air. Besides holding it, you can position it to set on a desk or table or the dashboard of your car. I really like that feature. It's nice when I'm sitting watching TV because I have a bookcase by my chair and if it gets too hot I can just turn it on. I will be keeping mine in my extra purse that I always take along with me to hold medicine and other things that I don't really need to take into a store or restaurant. I call it my bag purse. So that's where this fan will go so it's with me every time I go out. There are three speeds on this fan and you can definitely tell when you change speeds. R*** Looking at the pic on the box as well as the listing, it shows 2 separate wires to attach the 2 toys that it came with, but only 1 wire attachment was received and it's glued into a white base that's inserted into the duck. Both of the feathered attachments have decent snaps along with bells and feathers. One of them has a bird. The attachment speeds are either pretty fast or super fast. Our calico cat has a short attention span and is finicky about her toys, this entertained her just long enough to catch these action pics. Since then, she wants nothing to do with it. There is a motion feature to reactivate it from standby mode after 10 minutes, but our cat is simply not interested. It does shutdown after 5 hours. The interactive toy was simple to install and the feathers were packed flat making them very fluffy out of the package. What I didn't understand when ordering this was the base is an adhesive and not intended for continued removal from surfaces. I would suggest using a small board or in our case, I used the base of a cat toy scratcher pad that needs new cardboard. The fun orange colored knob allows the duck to be removed for easy charging & it comes with the USB charging cable. I tried to keep track of the actual time it needed to fully charge, but lost count after a few hours. Over the years, we've learned that cats are simply finicky.
