It's cheap, and I bought it because I'm a 'DIY' kinda guy and I didn't want to spend the $40 for the ARB Dampener when I knew I could make this one work for $5 of materials. It's made of cheap reflective vinyl, and has instructions on the (not pictured) other side. There are two pockets for weights, and small velcro strips (which really, really need to be bigger). I added a 4" wide strip of velcro to each interior side running about 1.5" from the bottom and I filled the pockets with sections of ziploc bags of Crossman BBs which were then covered in 100mph tape. This added enough weight that I felt reasonably confident it wouldn't fly off and kill anyone - the intent is to dampen the shock of the line snapping tension, not weight the line down to the ground. AI or no, I'd say this is exceptionally well written for a technical book, logically organized, and anticipates my questions and answers them handily. All while respecting my time with little fluff. I particularly appreciate the troubleshooting decision guides included for practical scenarios around the ham radio station. As an active ham I pull out my NanoVNA every few months to do something only it can do. After a brief re-learning curve, I get the project done and set the NanoVnA aside in favor of the convenience of my RigExpert for everyday tasks like measuring SWR. I bought this little volume hoping it might accelerate my re-orientation and teach me a few new tricks. The Nano is a marvelous device and I recommend this book to unlock its potential. There was one significant oversight, though. I was surprised to see no warning that, before connecting a VNA to any outdoor antenna, it is essential to discharge static by shorting the coax center pin and shield to station ground. So why suspect AI? 1) No pictures or graphs of any kind, though I didn't find their absence impaired my ability to understand the text. It's just odd given that the VNA is all about plotting stuff, and one would have expected a pic or two during chapter 5 about Smith Charts, and a schematic during the low pass filter design section of chapter 7. 2) No information to be found on the author, who also has books out on laser engraving, sewing machines, and other eclectic topics. And dare I ask...is there really a gal out there nerdier than I?
