I was nervous when I got it out of the packaging because it felt remarkably light. As in light to the point I wondered whether it would even work at all because a slight breeze against it would certainly break a necessary part. I was wrong - Gladly! The clamp part is cushioned with a slightly soft and foamy material that cushions the clamp from causing any damage to my laptop (the camera it came with is damaged after a drop) when “installing” it onto the screen’s frame. It doesn’t feel like it’s a spring loaded clamp but I guess it doesn’t have to be when the camera is very light and doesn’t move at all, even throughout long video calls. The camera has a surprisingly wide angle view (so be careful what you are in front of) and is of top notch quality. It’s crystal clear. The microphone is sensitive and picks up everything so that my family could even hear my husband’s voice when he was very quietly talking. This WebCam truly is a plug and play item. Just make sure the switch on the side is turned to ON. For a $20 price tag I can’t believe what an amazing value this is. I am so wonderfully surprised every time I use this. Comes with a power cable, giving you the ability to not drain your laptop battery to run an older webcam or other device that uses the USB-A connector. It does only supply power to one port, so that may be a limiting factor for some use cases. Immediately recognized on my 2019 Macbook Pro and my X870E based system running W11. No drivers or extra software, just plug and play. It even worked with Android 16, giving me the option plug in a bunch of devices to my phone that normally would not be possible. Minimal heat, however if you have a power hungry device, it can get warm during periods of extended use.
