The "outside" probe was mounted on the inside vertical surface of the front passenger door jam, on the "external" side of the weather strip. Protected from rain, etc., but exposed to the outside air slipping by. I've done this before and it has always worked well. However, after a couple months, the outside readings were all over the place. It would read 75 degrees when it was below freezing, or 96 degrees when it was 50. Indicative of a loose connection in the probe, but the probe and wire were installed properly and well protected. I have used it to measure both mash temperature and post-chiller temperature into the fermenting bucket. It is easy to mount on the wall, and very sturdy. It is within one degree of my Thermapen, so I trust its accuracy. I have kept it submerged for hours (mash & sparge, plus sitting in spent grain inside the cooler), and never had any water penetration at all. The only time I have had a problem it was of my own doing (accidentally yanked the cord way too hard) causing the wire to break. But since they are relatively inexpensive, I just ordered a new one. Bread does not toast evenly on both sides, only on the top, and only towards the back, and I must turn the bread over in order to toast the inadequately toasted bottom. Also, frozen waffles brown much better towards he back of the of the toaster, and much less so towards the front. Same top and bottom issue; they must be turned over. Also, I was wondering why certain foods did not cook properly even though time and temperature were correctly chosen. My sister has noticed the same things with her Brevilles. The oven is actually 10 degrees less than what shows on the display as I discovered by using an oven thermometer. I am concerned that manufacturing and production corners are perhaps being cut for budgetory reasons.
