Have owned and used this for about 5 months. First of all the dust bin holds about a cup (I’m being generous here) of debris. We have tile floors, with area rugs, and one dog who sheads a reasonable amount. When this thing is running for a 75 min battery charge, I empty the dust bin 6 times on average. When it gets full, it stops. Also it works pretty well on hard floors but always gets stuck, under the sofas, under the ottoman, in the bathroom(can’t find it’s way out,) etc. It also does not climb onto rugs well. If it hits the corner of a rug, it folds it over and gets hung up. And, for god’s sake don’t try running over any rugs with fringe, it will wind up fringe, possibly damage your rug, and get hung up. I have bought a replacement pack of 6 filters which I have gone through. They are only about 2” square and are instantly full of dust. The dust can only be knocked out so many times. Now I’m getting an error message that says the air path is blocked, it is not. Perfectly clean, washed so not even any dust remains and the app says to replace the cleaning head module ($65.00). I’m done. With the amount of time I spend fussing with this thing, I could have vacuumed the whole house 100 times over I’m depositing it in the trash. V8 Extra Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, Purple 1 1-Year Review – Disappointed After Being a Long-Time Dyson Customer Cmfmoto*** This is actually my third Dyson purchase, and I've always had great luck with Dyson products in the past. That's exactly why I was willing to spend the kind of money these vacuums cost. Unfortunately, this one has been a major disappointment. I purchased this Dyson V8 Extra for a new home build. I even installed a dedicated outlet in the closet and mounted a backing board in the wall specifically for this vacuum and its charging station. It is used primarily on hard-surface flooring with only a couple of small area rugs. The good: Lightweight and easy to handle Attachments work well Includes plenty of accessories for different cleaning needs Convenient for quick spot cleaning The bad: The biggest issue is battery life. Dyson advertises up to 40 minutes of runtime. In my experience, on hard floors—which should be easier on the battery than carpet—I get about 15 minutes on a full charge on a good day. That's not even close to the advertised runtime. The vacuum has also struggled with pickup performance from early in its life. Instead of consistently sucking debris up, it often seems to push or scatter dirt around before finally picking it up. For a premium-priced vacuum, that's frustrating. Another complaint is the dust bin emptying mechanism. Every time I empty it, it feels like I'm about to break something. It just doesn't inspire confidence in the durability of the design. What makes this even more disappointing is that my brother purchased a much cheaper cordless vacuum around the same time, and honestly, it outperforms this Dyson in both runtime and overall usability. It's embarrassing to say that his budget vacuum works better than my Dyson. Thankfully, we also own a robot vacuum that handles daily floor cleaning very well. This Dyson was supposed to be used for corners, ceilings, furniture, stairs, and quick cleanup jobs. Unfortunately, with the short runtime, I can barely finish one area before the battery is dead and I'm waiting for it to recharge. I really wanted to love this vacuum because I've had such good experiences with Dyson products in the past. Unfortunately, this unit has been a disappointment from the first year of ownership, and now, just over a year later, I'm already looking at buying another vacuum.
