Ecobee’s customer service which is based in Canada is the best. Once I hit power to the thermostat, setup took less than 3 minutes. It integrated well into Apple HomeKit. I wish for a better intervention into home assistant. Their support by itself is worth the money spent. I have had to install multiple smart thermostats over the years, no one wants to install these things due to their wiring complexity. He's had the EcoBee in his home for a while and strongly suggested it. Lucky for me, his distributor was out of the EcoBee3 Lite and gave me a free upgrade to the EcoBee 5th generation. The extra sensors are great, my office is upstairs and the sensor ensure my offices stays cool during the day while I'm working and at night, it ignore the office temperature and prioritizes the bedroom. Since installing it in October, it has been nothing but trouble. Any time I manually adjust the temperature on the unit, my Home app says that the thermostat is offline, sometimes for hours. Due to unchangeable manufacturer settings, the nest kicks on when only half a degree above our below your desired temperature, meaning that my HVAC is cycling a lot more than I'd like it to (which will decrease the lifespan of the unit). Inexplicably, the nest will periodically stop running for a minute or two before reaching the manual temperature input from the app, again causing unnecessarily excessive cycling. ecobee Smart Thermostat 2 Not worth it, many issues jo*** Update: A year later, I didnt receive my rebate money and it took me 2 weeks with multiple emails with my power company to be able to unsubscribe from their Eco plus program because they wont allow you to just exit the program. That’s after I realized it was running below my set temperature during cool days, why? Because it is so smart it thinks it can maintain the cool so it doesn't run as much when it is hot; of course thats bs and it ended up costing me more. One other thing started to happen, Alexa has become stupider to the point that I had to manually change the temp to avoid the frustration, or tell my other Alexa devices. It also often it looses the internet and starts screaming, when I give it a voice order, that it has no internet in the middle of the night with no way to stop it until it finishes the sentence. So far so good, except I haven’t been able to get in touch with their technical support for over a week. I have tried by email, via phone and thru ecobee/amazon technical support (which is not only useless but they will give you wrong information). If you have an "E" wire hook up in your present thermostat, this nest thermostat does not have a "E" wire terminal to hook up your emergency heat. What does "Emergency" heat do on a heat pump you ask...., If the heat pump fails for some reason in the dead of winter, this allows you to turn on the emergency heat, which is a coil of wires in the duct work that heats up by direct electrical current. (Think of your toaster) If you want a nest thermo with a emergency heat switch, you have to by the more expensive $250 nest learning thermostat. There is a reason why these nest thermos are only $130. No emergency heat plus less options than the $250 thermo. King Electric 120-Volt 1500-Watt Pic-A-Watt Electric Wall Heater in White PAW1215-W 5 Exactly what I wanted Riuji*** I used this heater in a 250 sq ft bedroom located in an addition with a crawlspace under the floor. It’s been in the mid 20s at night and the mid 30s during the day and so far even though I have it set to only 1000 watts it does a great job of keeping the room at temperature. I have it paired with a Mysa smart thermostat for line voltage and together they will maintain the room temperature at my desired set point. I’ve had it set to 74 degrees and it’ll stay within a degree of that temperature all day. The Mysa allows me to see my energy use and it looks like for these temps I’m using about 500 watts an hour or 1/3 of the rated output of the heater. I imagine it will need to be in the single digits and windy for the heater to max out. I did remodel the room and spray foamed the walls and ceiling so my insulation is tighter then most. My walls and floor are r18 and my ceiling is r24 if that helps people decide. The squirrel cage fan isn’t whisper quiet but it’s no louder than a desk fan on low. Installation is easy enough. ecobee3 Smarter Wi-Fi Thermostat with Remote Sensor, 2nd Generation 3 Stable product hampered by a lack of critical features and bad customer service kzon*** I've had my Ecobee for over a year. It's currently working as it should, keeping everything toasty. So it's not a bad or horrible thermostat by any means. However, certain aspects of the Ecobee make it more trouble than a regular thermostat. And when you combine that with it's $250 asking price, it just isn't worth it. I explain below: The Ecobee's claim to fame is its remote sensors, which none of the competition have. For houses where the temp can fluctuate from room to room, like mine, they are awesome. They can read the temp in those rooms and factor them into the output of your HVAC unit. So, the sensors are great. The Ecobee is billed "for houses with more than one room," but ironically, it has more trouble the more rooms you have. This is because the it relies too heavily on motion to detect occupancy of the home. If none of the sensors (or the thermostat) detect motion for 2 hours, it will go into Away mode. Since the Ecobee comes with only 1 remote sensor, it's very possible to be home for several hours without crossing its path. This means that if your plans diverge more than 2 hours from your preset schedule, you may need to manually intervene to change the temp and keep it from going into away mode. It's not hard to change the temp, sure, but fact is this is something you never had to worry about before with your non-smart thermostat. And now it'll be on your mind at least once a day. It is for me. Additionally, the sensor's 2-hour grace period can work against you in many scenarios. If you leave home for shortly more than two hours, the temp in your home will go to Away, only to have you come home minutes later and quickly scramble back to your home temp. Not energy efficient. If you're gone for longer, then you'll get some energy savings, but not as much as you could have had. And forget coming home to a properly warmed/cooled house with this feature. The Ecobee won't return to a home temp until it detects motion in the house, so you'll have to sit and wait for your house to warm up/cool down. All of this could be remedied if the Ecobee was aware of your phone's location, like the Nest. But it's not. And ridiculously, there are no plans to add this feature. The company will argue that geofencing is available through HomeKit or IFTTT, but neither service is sufficient for this purpose. IFTTT works with only one phone, so if you have more than one person in your house - like you have more than one room in your house - you're out of luck. And HomeKit? Well, see below... As I type this in 2017, after countless updates, the Ecobee3 still does not work properly with HomeKit. The company has attempted to fix compatibility for almost 2 years and has yet to make it fully functional. Do a search for HomeKit on the SmartHomeHub forums and you'll see what I'm talking about. Ecobee as a company appears to be completely unable to get their software to work properly with HomeKit, and it's a shame, cause it's on the box... So this bring me to my last point, perhaps the most crucial. Ecobee's customer service is abysmal. Absolutely abysmal. We're talking 1 hour+ wait times on the phone. Ignored emails. Uninformed support staff. Weeks upon weeks to process a return or an RMA. If a company that stands behind its product is important to you, look elsewhere now. You have been warned. So that's it...a fairly stable product hampered by a lack of critical features and bad customer service. It isn't the worst buy in the world, and if it cost $100, I'd say go for it. (I ordered directly from Flair.) I had moderate expectations that I would be able to bring a room, which is always too hot or cold, to a more moderate temperature. And the vents (along with their associated pucks) have definitely done that. The capabilities and configuration of the vents are a lot more complex than I had anticipated -- in a good way. Personally, I didn't have any trouble getting them set up and connected -- but I suspect a lot of people will find it better to use a professional installer. And because of the wide range of configuration options, there was a bit of trial and error (some still ongoing) in getting things set up as expected. For example, to get the too-hot-in-the-summer room to a comfortable (for me) 79°F, I have it set to 73°F so that the average desired temperature for the house is below the threshold for triggering cooling. (That room never gets down to 73°F, though -- nor would I want it to.) But the reporting and configuration of the vents has been a very welcome surprise: These vents CAN be (but do not HAVE to be) are a LOT more than they are described as. They can control not only the set point of a smart thermostat, but also a lot of other controls on it. They can be configured in more ways, and with a lot more precision than I had thought when I bought them. They save the HVAC system by protecting against pressure build up, opening vents that would -- based on temperature factors alone -- be closed (but they do so without messing up any temperatures). And every vent and every puck provides reports that can be accessed in the app to review everything about it (pressure, temperature at the vent, battery level, etc.). Another nice surprise is that it looks like my electricity consumption has decreased a bit -- which I didn't expect because the actual thermostat value is still almost always set at 79°F. I've only had them installed for 2 weeks though, so this assessment is tentative at best. In short, it's still early, but I'm very happy with this purchase. B07TPRLYS1 US

So far, I've been disappointed in the puck for several reasons. 1) I loaded my mini split and remote codes, but the IR codes it loaded don't work. I've been going back and forth with customer service for 5 days trying to resolve it and have gotten responses that amounted to "are you sure you did xxx correctly?". It's still not resolved, but they have escalated to another team. Waiting for a resolution. 2) The unit feels like a toy. It isn't well built and is extremely light weight. Normally, I wouldn't care, but I had seen the "built in stand" and thought I would simply have it on the bookshelf. The thing is so lightweight that a tiny bend in the power cord (which is required for bridge mode) is enough to keep it from sitting flat. You pretty much can only wall mount this thing. Beyond that, it simply feels like it could break at any moment. 3) The range is extremely limited. The signal for the smart vent couldn't reach the other room. So I need to have two pucks to do what I want. If your smart vents are separated by more than 10-30 feet depending on conditions, you may need a puck for each room. 4) The thermostat in the unit is about 3 degrees off. There is a way to correct this in the app, but the fact that the calibration is that far off is concerning. 5) The app controlling the devices is frankly terrible. It's basically nothing more than a web interface rather than a native iOS device. Sometimes nothing loads at all. The statistics pages are really hard to navigate... if you touch any of the charts to scroll, it just zooms the chart instead. I really can't say enough about how non-intuitive the app is. I would never use the puck for your primary thermostat. It is basically a really expensive bridge that is poorly made. If you want something to control a mini-split I think the options are limited and this might be one of your better options, but as I said, in my case I'm still waiting for the correct codes. I may update this review once the issue is resolved. All that said, Flair seems to have good quality smart vents (I would rate them higher than the puck), and the puck does seem to be operating the one that I'm testing quite effectively. This is needed to use their vents, and it's really the only reason this product deserves an existence. UPDATE: Flair customer service eventually suggested some steps that resolved the issue. However, the process was very clunky. I picked an IR code from the list that wasn’t causing the receiver to react. It still wouldn’t control the unit. Then I put the flair app into manual mode at Flair's suggestion and the receiver beeped exactly once. But then it wouldn’t do anything else in manual mode and the settings in the Flair app were different than what the unit was doing. I then put the Flair app back to auto mode and the puck showed “error” and then said it was downloading new IR codes. Then the puck displayed that the IR code download was successful, and now it seems to operate completely normally. So hardly a smooth experience, but it is now resolved. B08BTWLBSY US

I was corresponding with tech support for another smart thermostat company for 2 months and still never got it to connect to my system, where this connect immediately, reconnects automatically whenever the need arises, stays connected, is easy to program, runs my heater perfectly, etc., etc. Just perfect. Flawless. I'm one extremely satisfied customer. EDIT/UPDATE 3/27/2022: I just went through my first New Hampshire winter with this device. I am even MORE pleased as a result.
