Perky-Pet 336-1SR Squirrel-Be-Gone Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder, 2LB, Outdoor Wild Bird Feeder with Weight-Activated Perches 3 fragile bird feeder E*** This bird feeder is not as durable as the same designed one I had for years. The bird perches flip up or down and the wire at top has a crimp in it so the loop is only about 1.5" in length. Within 2 weeks, the squirrels knocked it off the shepherd hook 4 times. The last time I picked it up off the ground, I noticed the bottom was not attached. Closer inspection revealed the bottom is attached by a plastic part (which broke) off on both sides. Yes, the bottom part is only attached on two opposite sides. Today I reattached the bottom by using long black twisty ties. I had to crimp the wires as seen when viewing the feeder on the floor b/c the cage could not slide down to entirely cover the feeding ports. I first tried to reassemble the bottom in the same fashion but with zip ties instead. I tightened the zip ties so there was no give and tested it out. The cage only came down half way and left half of each feeding port open. I don't have a lot of faith in those two twisty ties as they are not designed to be outdoors and they will likeyly rust when the coating wears off. All that being said, if I ever buy another one of these, I might secure the hanging loop to the shepherd hook with a zip tie with some non-slip shelf liner bit under so the zip tie does not move around.
