I had tried at least 4 other feeders, but nothing seemed to keep the starlings from stealing the mealworms. I tried a smaller round feeder with a similar design (and a lot less costly) but the starlings were able to shake it enough to get the mealworms to scatter out of the little cup and keep on eating. And, crows were able to hang on and stick there long beaks right into the cup. Taking the advise of other reviewers, I added two perches so the bluebirds would have a spot to land to figure out how to get in. I made them from small diameter bamboo plant stakes that I had, holding them in place with tiny zip ties. The first bluebirds that found their way in were young ones, in just over 1 day.
