Buy something else!!! Ell*** I cannot unrecommend this product strongly enough. These earbuds are overdesigned, overpriced pieces of junk. Buy something else. ANYTHING ELSE. I promise that any $10 pair of earbuds at a grocery store checkout aisle will perform better than these. And they’re a hell of a lot cheaper! First, the size. I have small outer ear openings, so I need an ear bud that comes with customizable sizing. I bought these after reading several positive reviews, in the hopes that they would work for my teeny, tiny ears. They did not. The size 2 jacket is a smidge too big, so wearing them for more than 20 minutes becomes painful. But the size 1 jackets don’t work either because they lack a fin, which means that there’s nothing attaching the ear bud to your actual ear. So if I use the size 1 jackets and tilt my head, either one or both earbuds fall out. Not only that – they fall out even when I DON’T tilt my head. After about 30 minutes of wear, regardless of whether I’ve moved my head or not, at least one earbud will fall out of its own accord. I have Zoom footage to prove it. So I’m currently stuck with a product that either causes me pain, or falls out every 30 minutes and needs to be chased down – not ideal when you’re on a phone call, and the other party is unaware that your earbud is on the floor under the dishwasher - not in your actual ear. Secondly, the Bluetooth pairing. The Bluetooth pairing function on these is rough – they don’t pair seamlessly to ANY device without turning said device’s Bluetooth on and off several times in a row. If you’re trying to use these to take phone or video calls, that often means you’re scrambling to connect your earbuds before the call goes to voicemail. Third, my absolute favorite function: the low battery disconnect. When the Jaybird ear buds have only 10% battery left, they notify you with an in-earbud audio notification, then automatically DISCONNECT from your audio source. They don’t give you the option to disconnect – they just disconnect. Whether you want them to or not. If you’re in the middle of a phone call, that means you need to scramble to find your phone (which you may not even have on your person since these are Bluetooth speakers after all, and freedom from your device is kind of the whole point), and then scramble to switch audio playback to an on-device option rather than a Bluetooth option and then pray to God that you’ve done all of that quickly enough to notify the person on the other line that “Yes, I am in fact still here, please don’t hang up,” before they actually hang up. My success rate at this exercise is about 50/50. Next, transparency mode. While I don’t have much beef with the function itself (it works just fine to let me listen to audio output while still hearing conversations around me), because the on-earbud command to activate the mode doesn’t reliably work, the entire feature is essentially rendered non-existent. What I mean is: I use transparency mode like any other normal human would: when I’m out for a jog and the neighbor stops me to talk, when I’m in line at the coffee shop and it’s finally my turn to talk to the barista, when I’m in the middle of the grocery store, and someone stops me with a question, etc. I don’t live in transparency mode. I live in normal audio output, noise-canceling mode, but I want to be able to quickly switch to transparency mode when I need to suddenly interact with the outside world. And there is no way to do that with Jaybird’s current product design. The on-earbud command to switch to transparency mode only works about 30% of the time, which means that if you want to activate transparency mode, you need to pull out your phone, open the Jaybird app, and then scroll down until you see the transparency mode settings, and manually click it on. No actual human is going to do that. Which makes the entire function completely pointless. Next up: the on-earbud volume controls, which also do not work to reliably control volume. I’ve had four pairs of wireless earbuds now (see above: tiny ear problem), and I have never had any problems adjusting audio playback volume. It’s such an elementary feature that most companies take the time to do it right. Not Jaybird! I’ve had so many issues trying to control the volume with the earbud buttons that I’ve given up entirely. I just resigned myself to the reality that all volume adjustments need to be made on-device because Jaybird’s product is just completely not equipped for such a basic function. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’ve got over a decade of professional experience in software design. I live and breathe tech every single day. But even I, with ten years of experience, can’t manage to hack these hunks of junk into a functional piece of equipment. PLEASE, for the love of GOD, buy something else. Given the BP1 sound, ANC, and app, the BP1 are outstanding for their $30 price tag. The ANC is respectable. They block TV noise played at normal volume. Transparency mode works, but it's not great. The sound out of the box is decent. It's bass forward of course, but it's not overwhelming. The soundstage is fairly narrow and there's a bit of congestion. Overall, it's not a bad listen. This is a $30 set that sounds better than most $30 wireless earbuds. Using the app gives you all the benefits these earbuds have to offer. You have the option to boost bass, and you have the option to adjust bass via EQ presets. There are 24 different EQ presets to select from our you can customize your own EQ. Idk if it's a glitch with my set or not, but when I chose + to add my own preset, the music begins to sound like it's in a tunnel. The sound SHOULD just sound flat, but it adds that far away tunnel sound in addition to the flat response. The app has a function to check the seal of the tips. There are a couple of AI functions that I have not had the chance to review. They are AI Translator and AI Voice Notes. A cool feature is you can control your camera shutter with the earbuds. These are wrong shape. They will fall out if you chew. They will fall out of you run. They will have poor sound unless fit is perfect. The noise cancelling is quite limited and useless. Any fit problem obliviates noise cancelling. Also the touch controls need to be turned off otherwise every time you touch them to fix the fit, they will pause or skip track or whatever. Dumbest product ever. Two stars because when it works it works. Also had some random call drops from the Bluetooth connection Only on calls, the sound from music wasn't ever interrupted.
