Slim and low profile, the keyboard is lightweight and easy to move around so I can use this on other devices when needed. The keys are fairly quiet too so I can work through the night without waking the dead (keyboard on my Lenovo X61 is still much quieter). I am not sure about a few of the other reviews but I found the mouse to be nicely weighted and suitable for my usage. Plugging the wireless receiver into a free USB 2.0 port on my powered hub, Windows 8.1 Professional took a few seconds to install native drivers and I was up and running. I was intending to purchase the Microsoft Wireless Desktop 2000 but decided against it after reading some of the reviews about poor wireless performance. I am actually very happy with the Logitech Wireless Combo Mk520. It's the middle of the range from the selection but offers all the features and functionality I need while remaining compact enough for my application. Logitech claims better battery life than the Microsoft products anyway. I'm not missing my Microsoft/Razer Reclusa keyboard nor the Razer Abyssus 3500dpi gaming mouse. The mouse on the Mk520 scrolls slower by default compared to the Razer but that is easily solved, In Windows, go to: > Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer Options: 1. I am a World of Warcraft player (Haven't actually been player for very long yet, but love it!), but I am not new to the MMO genre. When I first plugged this mouse in and started using it, my first thought was pretty much "Where have you been all my life?". During PvE and questing, this mouse makes for quickly executed and near flawless rotations. Everything is within easy reach of my thumb, and takes the doubt out of which hotkey you are hitting. It is logically set up so that the motion is almost intuitive when using the thumb grid, I didn't even use the trainer decals provided by the manufacturer. This mouse also really shines in PvP. It really takes a lot of the fumble out of executing even an irregular rotation, even under the increased pressure of Player vs. Player combat. For those of you familiar with World of Warcraft, I play a Subtlety Rogue, and when I started using this mouse, my DPS and Damage scores in Battlegrounds went through the roof. The mouse is also excellently built. The components are all build with quality and care, and when the battery is placed in the mouse, it gives it a very nice weight. EVERYTHING about this mouse is adjustable and customizable as well, so you can tailor it for any use you may have. Switching between wired and wireless mode are flawless, and though some people swear by a wired mouse for gaming, I see absolutely no significant difference between wired and wireless mode while playing. there is no lag, and I have NEVER had a command not register. The dock that the mouse comes with for charging is also its wireless receiver, so you don't have to worry about three separate components. The dock has a hefty weight to it, so I am never worried about knocking the mouse over while it is recharging, and it also magnetically connects to the mouse, for added security. The only complaint I have about the mouses manufacture is barely worth mentioning, but sometimes pushing the buttons on the thumb grid can fill a bit "grindy" but I rarely notice it. The mouse is very aesthetically pleasing with it's combination of matte and gloss finish and backlit buttons with color change options. It is low profile and not gaudy like some other gaming mouses, although it still stands out as a different kind of peripheral. A huge plus for me is that the mouse is also EASY TO CLEAN!! I wash my hands regularly and don't eat at my computer, but I am a huge stickler for a clean computer and peripherals. This mouse, with it's ergonomic contours and few crevices and seems stays very clean on it's own and is extremely easy to just wipe down with a dry cloth. Also worth mentioning is when paired with a Razer Goliathus low friction mousepad, the thing practically glides on its own! I will not be recommending this product or other products from this company unless they worked really hard to make this right to me and all of the other customers that have experienced this problem. But I have a few (personal) complaints! B*** Overall, this would probably be closer to a 4.5, because I have very minor complaints about it. Either way, it's a great looking and functional mousepad. But let's put this into perspective. This pad is considerably smoother than others that I've used. Rather than a "clothier" matte type "finish", it's a bit glossier and like I said, just a little smoother. This could be problematic for gamers, or anyone, I guess. The smoother mousepad simulates a higher mouse sensitivity, because your mouse movements will be a little less precise, and a tad more clumsy. Over time you'll get used to this, but don't just start up a game and expect your mouse control to be the same as before, unless your old pad is similar to this one. Another thing, as others have said, is its thickness. It's on the thin side. My old mousepad was meatier. It's not a problem, but it does give a slightly different and less cushioned feeling on your hand/wrist. And if I really want to continue splitting hairs, I can tell you that it's important to look at the picture carefully. While the mousepad (dragon picture) is primarily blue, it does have quite a bit of green. In fact, it's closer to sea green than it is to "blue". Let me explain. I just built a rig, going with the primary color scheme of blue. A Thermaltake Chaser MK-I, an Asus motherboard with blue accents, and G.Skill Ripjaws RAM in a blue color. So in that sense, this mousepad doesn't fully go with my color scheme. That's OK, but just understand what you're getting. I do really like the dragon image, though. Definitely one of the nicest looking mousepads I've seen, so there's nothing wrong with the looks. It just didn't fully comply with what *I* was going for! So, to sum it up, it's a nice pad. It's a bit smoother than normal, thinner than normal, and is not truly "blue", but it looks great, and functions as it should! Unfortunately, it lasted just barely over a year for me (just passed the warranty period). I use my middle-click button a LOT (clicking the scroll wheel). It's now starting to produce double-clicks, even though I only clicked once. This problem isn't limited to Zowie (BenQ), I had the same issue with my previous Logitech mouse. The difference is that Logitech replaced mine under warranty twice, no questions asked (before I decided to switch away to a different brand, thinking it was a design flaw). BenQ declined to replace my mouse, since they only warranty it for a year. I personally think a $60 mouse should last longer than a year. I have a feeling that the switch they use for the middle mouse click is a lower quality switch than what is used for the left and right buttons, which would explain why it failed. I guess I'll continue my search for another brand that will stand behind their product (either by offering a longer warranty, or being willing to replace out of warranty products in good faith). I've only been using this mouse for a day, but so far it is very smooth and works functionally well. Cosmetically and ergonomically, it is a very good size and the buttons and scroll wheel are nice. I like that the DPI levels have various colors to represent them, that's a cool feature. Also, the cloth wire is a plus. If you go to the Redragon website, you can download the software to edit the mouse functions from the LED light features to 4 or 5 presets of DPI you prefer as your default and other available options to sort through. After 6 weeks of use, the only issue I've come across is the scroll wheel. Not always, but sometimes the wheel will scroll itself upwards, but not even a full designated scroll, it's like a 1/4 scroll. It's weird, but apparently this seems to be the most recurring issue. Just using it a few minutes is reeeeealy noticeable from other mice. I have a CM Storm recon and it has an older avago sensor, a little ehh really. Awesome smoothness of movement. i think it has like 5 m/s top out on acceleration, freaking insane. The clicks are borderline orgasmic. My Recon was like jumping off a diving board. the Mouse Scroll is... probably the only major thing thats ehh. Not really a game breaker. but it feels...weird. Other thing is im not sure if you can use the other sides side buttons. seems locked. have to look into it. The mouse is mainly a palm with a half claw mix posture. the big lump makes your hand get a real comfy boner. i personally am used to claw gripping from playing a lot of FPS games. I have pretty big hands and the ZA12 fits just fine for both palm and claw. Also , if you do have smaller hands and dont want the 13, the clicks register with pretty much the same force up until the very top ridge of the mouse, which i found pretty impressive. On each side there are little "wings" next to the edges of the mouse and provide a nice little extra grip to pick up the mouse. that brings me to the LOD, holy moles its soo nice. super low. And i really like the no software needed, bare bones approach. it wont light up like a LGBT parade but it freaking gets the job done. Only issue is that certain buttons stop working or need to be pressed heavily to work. My number 2 button and scroll wheel button only work when press very hard. D *** I like SteelSeries products, I use their mouse (Rival 310) and their headset (Arctis 5) and their gaming mouse pads. I love the mouse and the headset, and I figured the same would be true for any SteelSeries product...I purchased this keyboard to keep with my traditional SteelSeries peripherals. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. Within 30 minutes of gaming my hand was cramping on the keyboard. The layout was terrible, the wrist support was terrible. Also, the build quality seemed poor, the keyboard flexed in the middle!!! Flexed! I was shocked, it was not a pleasant experience to use at all! I was so surprised to be having a terrible experience with a Steel Series product. SteelSeries needs to go back to the drawing board with this keyboard... the Apex is certainly not the apex of keyboards within its price range.... I returned the keyboard through Amazon, and I took the refund money and purchased a Razer Blackwidow Chroma v2, now yes the Razer was slightly more expensive, but it is a pleasure to type and game on. I look forward to SteelSeries launching new keyboards, I am a brand loyalist, and I would like to have a Steel Series keyboard. B0199GE7RC US
