It comes with a large clip so they can be mounted almost anywhere. The light is mounted on a flexible shaft and it is easy to adjust the height and location for the best coverage. There are a lot of white LEDs with a few blue an red ones mixed it. The light assembly operates on a USB power source (included). There is a controller in the cord that turns the light on/off, adjusts the light output level and selects the on-time. If a timer value is selected, the light will stay on for the set number of hours and then turns off. It will repeat the cycle every 24 hours. It has worked fine as a grow light for my seedlings this year. For next hear, I may get a second one to have more light. It was fairly easy to put together overall, but I do want to warn anyone assembling it to pay close attention to the recessed parts on the shelves. The directions don't point them out, and you need to make sure each shelf is facing the right direction before you tighten everything down. I caught it early enough, but it would have been easy to get a shelf flipped and have to backtrack. Just double-check as you go. Once assembled, the stand feels very stable. The metal frame is solid and the anti-slip pads keep it from wobbling or scratching the floor. It's the perfect size for the small plants we have, mostly 4 to 6 inch pots, and the staggered four tiers give each plant enough room without crowding. It fits nicely in a corner and the rustic brown finish with the black frame looks great. The grow lights are a nice touch. I used the included adhesive to attach the light heads and skipped the screws entirely. The screws were very tiny and didn't seem necessary given how light the lights are. The adhesive has held up fine so far. For a compact, stylish plant shelf with built-in lighting, this is a solid value.
