The roll came with no instructions, so I was left to figure out how to prepare, cut, and apply it to achieve a nice finished look. The product, itself, delivers exactly what you'd expect if you have ever seen a flocked felt drawer liner in a jewelry box. Getting that result, though, posed some challenges. The steps to overcome these challenges comprise the remainder of this review. 1. Preparing the liner The product is delivered in a roll that is taped tight (single tape strip) then shrink-wrapped. The first thing you will notice when you remove the wrap and tape is that the liner is slightly deformed where the tape was pulled tight. As you unroll the liner, you will also see a recurring wrinkle running the width of the liner where the felt bunches as the two surfaces of the liner (felt and removable backing) are rolled, with more wrinkles occurring as you move closer to the center of the roll. These deformities and wrinkles are evident on the felt surface and detract from its appearance. Further, because the liner is rolled, it is nearly impossible to lay flat for measuring and cutting. To overcome both wrinkles and roll-memory, I resorted to ironing, which worked very well. To do this, I recommend first rough-cutting into smaller pieces based upon the sizes of your drawers. This makes ironing a manageable process on a standard ironing board. Once ironed, the liner will be flat for measuring and cutting. 2. Measuring and cutting To measure and cut for a well-fitted finish, I strongly recommend a cutting board; rough-cutting with scissors made it evident that scissors was not the right approach. For precise results, you might consider making the first cuts slightly oversized then tuning the cuts after trial fitting (before removing the backing paper). 3. Installing Once cut and test-fit to your drawer, remove the adhesive backing paper. At this point, the liner will become difficult to manage, with increased difficulty for larger pieces. Don't panic, though, because the adhesive is forgiving and can be easily repositioned before pressing more securely into place. Even after pressing into place, the liner can be removed and repositioned but not as easily. Whatever you do, though, do not let the adhesive fold over on itself or you will likely need to scrap the piece and start over. For repositioning the liner with the backing paper removed while you are fitting it in the drawer (which you will do many times, believe me), I strongly recommend a hooked dental-pick-type tool. This will enable you to easily get under and lift the liner. Without this, you will be attempting to use your finger nail, which will cause the adhesive to fold on itself. Also, if you are lining a particularly large drawer, you might consider a roller to roll out the air bubbles starting from the center of the drawer. I did not have to do this because my drawers were no bigger than 9"x12". Following these three steps, I was very satisfied with the outcome. I actually enjoyed the process once I figured it out and mastered each step. I had twelve small drawers to do, so I got pretty good at it. Rating 4 stars instead of 5 because it came with no instructions to overcome the rolled packaging and ensure predictable success. If I were not the type that (over?)thinks through projects and develops/practices each step, I would have been very frustrated with this product, likely returning it and leaving a bad review.
