So I bought it, and I have no quibbles at all. You need to be able to find the studs in your garage wall, which isn't always easy. Usually I start with several rare-earth magnets in the shape of washer, tied to a string. I swing the magnets back and forth slowly, while moving slowly up and down. This is a very effective way to find nails. I haven't yet encountered a vertical sequence of nails where there wasn't a stud, but I have found studs where there were no nails to hold the sheet-whatever in place. The swinging magnet is the best way to start, but you still need a half-decent electronic stud finder. You can one that works perfectly well for $20 or even less. Okay, as for these hangers, one the boxes on my short list of boxes was for the arm to be braced underneath. Seems a no-brainer, but many are not. Another one of the boxes on my short list was for the base to be adequately wide, at least as wide as the thickness of a modern "2x4". Even though the studs are behind the wall, you still need for the base to be wide so that when the big hook gets knocked against on one side (eventually it will), it will be able to resist this motion without doing damage to the wall, or whatever else might happen. This also was on my short list of boxes, and this also seems a no-brainer, but some of what you see listed is probably only about 1 inch wide, which isn't enough. I looked at a dozen listings at least, but this one was clearly superior to the others. Now that all four are securely attached to studs behind the sheets on my garage wall, I couldn't want more. And it will be… just as soon as I get the tools I need. The instruction sheet makes it quite clear on the first page (All these tools are not included): Tools required; Drill, Measuring Tape, Level, Pencil, Stud Finder, Cross Screwdriver (that’s a Phillips head—a #1, or #2 might fit), Rubber Mallet (size unspecified). One other item that isn’t mentioned: a drill bit for the wall and the wall studs to fit the shelf bracket, it MUST be smaller than the drill bit included with the kit. The instructions explain how to drill the pilot hole and how deep it should go—2 to 2¼ inches—but never mention what size drill bit to use. I’ll try a test hole on a scrap 2x4. Longer arm plus tilt/swivel adjustments are great too, in particular if you will be using this in a bedroom/RV/office where you will likely not be watching directly from the center position. Mounting is fairly simple if you can mount into studs (DO NOT try to mount this into drywall alone). Seriously guys, get a stud finder or you will kick yourself. I will say... measure twice! You have to have the room to fold up and some TVs with low mounting holes will not meet VESA requirements. If you pass the measurements test this thing is great for saving space and feels very durable.
