A wonderful mystery, in a small-town setting, with an amazing group of friends who continued to push for answers to the mystery from that night on the beach. And true to the author’s recent writings the girls all have amazing dogs that take care of them, love Koa in this book! As a knitter myself, I was amused by how Caleb actually learned to knit with the help of the club ladies, while trying to solve the mystery. Not to mention how Penelope and Caleb are starting to get shipped (!!!!) by some of their friends (and Grandma). This is a terrific read and I love how each book ends with a Grandma's Kitchen chapter that contains a recipe of something that was mentioned in the book. I definitely recommend this entire series!. Jenn*** This yarn holder is really cute and helpful but could use a few tweaks. It is obvious that it is supported to be a cat playing with yarn and the magnets that hold the yarn spool to the paw work very well and there is no need to worry about it falling. I have only used it for sock yarn and so I can’t speak to how it does with larger cakes of larger yarn but simply based on the clearance between the cat and the spool I don’t think it would be a good idea to even try anything larger than a three weight. Even with the three I would not attempt anything larger than a standard skein. Now for my issues with it.first and foremost is the fact that it could use some better attention to the sanding. There are places on the cat that could be sanded a little better but my main complaint is the dish area where you can put extra stitch holders and what not. The inside if it doesn’t really appear to have been sanded much at all. The slot where you can rest a phone is a bit better but could use some work too. The other place where I am disappointed in the sanding is on the center pole of the cake holder itself. While there are not too many rough places anyone who knits or crochets knows it only takes a small catch to mess up your work. I would also suggest that the finish be applied more evenly. There are places like between the head, neck, and paws that haven’t had any finish applied; but the worst is that the aforementioned "dish" for stitch holders has no finish in the inside. This might be less of an issue if it were sanded well but it’s not. Lastly the maker of these should not apply the finish over the magnets because it flakes off and can get on your yarn. It’s not very much but if you’re making a gift using light colored yarn it would be frustrating. Granted the finish on the magnets will likely be gone fairly quickly (I sanded mine off with a nail file) but it is still something overlooked by the manufacturer. 0441533817 US

It combined the classic timeless elements of a great Stephen King yarn but it also felt fresh, believable and completely modern. For me, horror works best if it's grounded in great human drama. The more realistic and relatable the characters, the more I fear for them when the horror kicks in. And in Imaginary Friend, Chbosky makes you care deeply about this boy and his mother. When things start to go crazy and he tells his mom -- he needs her to believe him -- she replies with typical mom skepticism. But when she sees how deep in the weeds her son is, she realizes that she believes him. No matter how nuts what he's saying is. That's when Chbosky grabbed me. Blood of the Falcon (Falcons Saga Book 1) 3 Epic tale in familiar environs Ad*** The author successfully puts together a sweeping epic, even if one that has a lot of familiar elements, and I can recommend it to readers of epic fantasy. The world building was wanting for originality, but it was described well. You'll find a very familiar fare of humans, forest elves (who came across from fairer shores long ago...), dwarves digging away in mines and swinging axes, mercenaries, pirates (who unfortuantely can't stop talking like they're in a Disney movie), and orcs, I mean ogres. Grammatically there are very few distractions for a book this size. Those things aside, the author obviously spent their time telling their story which does span a good length to get immersed in. This is volume one, but it is definitely one broad story divided into two parts without clear resolution in between and the chapter numbering reflects this, so I will write just this one review for the whole. The author does takes this world of familiar elements and spins a good yarn of peace, war, magic. It does seem a bit too often that the bad guys really can't catch much of a break while the good guys never go wanting for one. This two part fantasy is certainly worth the price of admission at many hundred pages of entertaining storytelling that doesn't suffer the stylistic ills that many self published works succumb to, and with this book's length that's definitely saying something. Update: I saw my review has been read by a number of readers and saw it was labeled as "critical" (odd since I thought the book was enjoyable). As I was reflecting on the stars in my review I wanted to say I don't want to dissuade anyone from reading this good book, but when I write a review I do like to go in more depth than an off-the cuff high-five that you can't tell a neutral reader from a shill.
