One tank is for the normal floor cleaner, and a smaller tank is for the heavy-duty floor cleaner. These are concentrates, and they are added in the correct proportion to the clean water when the robot fills itself up. So there's no need to measure and mix the solution yourself. The robot has a roller that extends out from the device to the trim along the edge of the room. This ensures that the entire floor is mopped and cleaned. An app is needed to run the robot, and an iOS or Android device is supported. I use an Android phone, and from the one app, I can control all of my Ecovacs devices (window cleaner, lawnmower, and pool cleaner). The app allows scheduling room cleaning with multiple configurations available, such as vacuum first / mop afterwards, vacuum only, and vacuum and mop at once. It can also be configured to set the overlap, suction pressure, and water usage. All of this affects the battery run time. But it's ok because the robot returns automatically to the base station to recharge, empty the dirty water and dust, and refill with the cleaning solution. It then returns to the previous spot and continues cleaning until its job is complete. The cleaning log shows how long it took to clean the room and the path the robot took. I set up second and have done all troubleshooting and adjusting of settings as needed. They clean very well and I find I like being able to mop/vacuum more often. Have a 73 lb, black, very hairy dog that sheds a lot. I do run over floors and areas robots cannot reach with a heavy duty Swiffer before running. I do this because I feel it is too much hair to ask of the robots to collect. My dog drools so I keep most settings on high with 2 passes. There is a lot of maintenance keeping robots clean. I probably clean them and replace parts more often than necessary. I clean dirty water reservoirs after each use as they can become smelly. Moping disks are washable and hold up very well. All parts hold up well. I have not had a cleaning part break. The robots are very dependable. I do not run them when I am not home as they can get trapped behind doors, under low cabinet or appliance edges. I love them! I do occasionally use a Hoover floor sanitizer machine on ceramic tile in kitchen, dining area, foyer and other entrance ways. Hope I never have to go back to moping by hand. I don’t use robots in bathrooms as there are too many small areas and robots seem to just go around in circles trying to cover all small areas. Now I have it set up to go off every night at 3 am and sometimes during the day if needed. Then every week or 2 my house is vacuumed with a Miele. This is done because the i robot cannot get the corners and 1 or 2 other places that there is not enough room for him to fit. He gets stuck sometimes on or under things, it's not a big problem just some mornings I see he got stuck and did not finish his job (not a big deal). The only warning I have for anyone is if you have an animal in your house, be mindful that if they have an accident. Well, it's a big mess, but my i robot did not go far after running poop over. It sent an error message and shut down. I don't know how I ever lived without an i robot. This may be the best thing I have ever spent my money on. I recommend it to everyone. It does great on both hard surfaces and carpet on animal hair. The floors will look clean before he runs yet he fills up with dog hair. What caught my attention initially was the combination of strong vacuuming, the roller-style mop, and especially the FocusJet pre-spray feature. After using it, I can see why those features are important because it feels like this was designed to actually clean the floor rather than simply make a few passes over it. The setup was fairly straightforward. Like any robot vacuum with this many features, I spent some time getting everything configured, connecting it to the app, and letting it map the house. Once the initial setup was done, though, the day-to-day operation became very easy. I can select areas to clean, set cleaning preferences, and let the robot handle the routine work without having to constantly supervise it. The vacuuming is excellent The vacuuming performance has been one of the biggest positives for me. The X12 has up to 22,000Pa of suction, and it does a very good job picking up the everyday stuff that accumulates on the floor—dust, crumbs, dirt, hair, and other small debris. What I like is that I don't necessarily have to wait until the floor looks dirty before running it. Running it regularly keeps the amount of debris under control, and when I check what it has collected, I'm usually surprised by how much was there. The ZeroTangle 4.0 system is another feature I appreciate. Hair is one of the biggest annoyances with traditional vacuum brushes, especially if you have long hair or pets. The X12's brush design is intended to direct hair into the suction path rather than allowing it to wrap around the brush as easily. The mopping is where this robot really stands out The FocusJet system is probably my favorite feature. Instead of simply running a wet mop over a dried spill and hoping it comes up, the X12 can identify dried-on stains and use targeted pressurized water spray to soften them before the roller goes over the area. ECOVACS describes the FocusJet spray as using crossed water jets at high pressure to pre-soften stubborn messes. In everyday use, I really like the idea of treating a problem area before scrubbing it. Things like dried food, coffee spots, sauce, and other little marks that normally require me to get down on the floor with a towel or mop are much easier for the robot to deal with. It isn't magic—you still shouldn't expect a robot to replace manually scrubbing a seriously neglected floor—but for normal household messes, the difference is noticeable. The OZMO Roller is much better than a basic mop pad Another thing I like is the roller-mop design. Instead of dragging around a conventional wet pad, the OZMO Roller continuously washes itself as it cleans. ECOVACS says the X12 uses a 27cm/10.6-inch roller and a pressurized self-washing system with 32 water-flow paths. This makes a lot of sense to me because one of the problems with traditional robot mops is that they can eventually spread dirty water around after the pad becomes saturated with grime. With this system, the roller is continually being refreshed while it works. The result is a much more consistent cleaning process, particularly on hard floors. I also noticed that the floors don't stay excessively wet after cleaning. The system is designed to remove excess water from the roller, and ECOVACS claims substantially less residual water compared with ordinary fiber rollers. Edge cleaning is very good The X12 also does a good job getting close to walls, cabinets, and other edges. The TruEdge 3.0 system is designed to extend the roller toward the edge while adjusting its position as it moves along boundaries. This is one of those features you don't necessarily appreciate until you've owned a robot that leaves a noticeable strip of dirt around the perimeter of the room. There will always be areas a robot can't physically reach, but the X12 does a much better job minimizing those missed areas. Navigation has been reliable Navigation has also been good. The X12 uses dToF navigation and RGBD obstacle avoidance, and it does a good job moving around the rooms and figuring out where it needs to go. I especially like not having to constantly rescue it. With older robot vacuums, I felt like I was checking every so often to make sure they hadn't gotten stuck somewhere. The X12 feels much more independent. Of course, you still need to use common sense and pick up things like cords, loose objects, or anything you wouldn't want a robot vacuum running over. No robot can completely eliminate the need to prepare the floor. The bagless station is a huge plus The OmniCyclone station is another feature I really like. The station uses a bagless dust collection system, so you're not constantly buying replacement dust bags. ECOVACS says the PureCyclone 2.0 system separates dust from the air and uses a 1.6-liter dust container designed to provide up to 48 days of operation under its stated conditions. For me, the convenience of not having another consumable bag to keep stocked is a big deal. The station also handles much of the mop maintenance. It can wash the roller with fresh water and manage the dirty water, which means I don't have to manually wash the mop after every cleaning session. That's really the whole reason I like premium robot vacuums: the less I have to think about them, the more useful they become. Battery and larger areas The X12 is also designed for larger homes and longer cleaning sessions. Its PowerBoost Charging Plus system is intended to allow the robot to recharge intelligently and continue cleaning rather than simply stopping when the battery gets low. I like this because I don't want to worry about whether the robot has enough battery to finish the house. I can start a cleaning cycle and let it manage the charging as needed. App and automation The app is another important part of the experience. There are a lot of settings and options, so it can take some time to understand everything, but once you get familiar with it, there is a lot of flexibility. I like being able to tell it where to clean rather than having to run the entire house every time. That's especially useful when one particular room needs attention. The X12 also has ECOVACS' AGENT YIKO 2.0 system, which is designed to use information about the home, cleaning habits, room layout, and objects to adjust cleaning strategies. A few things to consider This isn't a small, inexpensive robot vacuum, so the price is obviously something to consider. You're paying for a lot of technology and automation. The station also takes up a reasonable amount of space, so you need to plan where you're going to put it. I would recommend measuring your available area before purchasing. And although it is much more automated than a basic robot vacuum, it isn't completely maintenance-free. You still need to periodically check the brushes, sensors, filters, water tanks, and other components. That's simply part of owning a robot vacuum, especially one that also mops. Final thoughts Overall, I'm very impressed with the DEEBOT X12 OmniCyclone. The combination of strong vacuuming, FocusJet stain pre-treatment, the continuously self-washing OZMO Roller, edge cleaning, obstacle detection, and the bagless OmniCyclone station makes this feel like a significant step above a basic robot vacuum. The FocusJet feature is what really separates it from the typical vacuum-and-mop robots I've used. Being able to pre-treat dried-on messes before the roller scrubs them is a genuinely useful idea, particularly in kitchens and other high-traffic areas. For me, the biggest benefit isn't any single specification—it's the amount of daily floor cleaning that I no longer have to do myself. I can let the X12 handle the routine vacuuming and mopping and spend my time on other things. If you're looking for an inexpensive robot vacuum, this probably isn't the one to buy. But if you're specifically looking for a premium, highly automated vacuum-and-mop system and want advanced stain cleaning rather than just a robot that drags a wet pad around the floor, the X12 OmniCyclone is a very impressive option. Extremely cheap quality. Janet *** For such an insanely expensive price, this is such low quality. It worked great, for about 3 days. Since then, I've had to constantly repair and maintain it. Far more time consuming and sensitive than a normal vacuum. The app is honestly horrible- it takes sometimes 10 minutes or more to connect often. I have to remake the maps once every couple weeks it seems- something about the maps it makes gets corrupted and becomes unusable. The Roomba has constant issues charging- the dock doesn't seem to ever want to charge correctly and I have to wedge it in there and clean the contact pads almost each time. The cleaning performance is mediocre at best. the mop pads seem to be completely ineffective after about only 2 weeks of use. The roller in the Rumba was damaged by a thread from the carpet (my house is almost entirely tile except for a small 4x4 patch of carpet) and the cheap plastic was damaged within only a few days. It rams into the edges of the wall and trim of the house aggressively, there are scratches all around the trim of my house now, it runs into it so hard that there's paint chipping off and sticking onto the rumba. The dock gets covered in what looks like mud/wet dust that gets stuck on. Yes, I've replaced the consumable parts, yes, I replace the clean/dirty water with each use, yes, I empty the bin every couple days. My house is not that big. It seriously struggles with only 2 bedrooms. I feel like I would have had a much better result by buying some cheap knockoff. Ridiculous price for such poor quality.
