After some research I decided on the Tenergy dehumidifier as a solution to that issue, with the intention of purchasing an additional unit if needed. Since I was testing the unit, after inserting the filter I moved it between rooms to see where it would be most effective. It seemed to do a good job of extracting water from the environment and I had no problem maneuvering it from room to room after I had emptied the reservoir. During this testing period I proactively emptied the reservoir on a daily basis without waiting for the auto shut off feature to kick in. I finally decided that I wanted to keep the unit in the living room and so placed it in on a level surface in that room. I did not think it odd when after a couple of days the auto shut off had not kicked in because the humidity levels outside had been quite low. I was quite surprised however, when I came home to find a pool of water on the floor and the unit still humming away. Honestly, I didn’t bother to attempt to troubleshoot the issue. If there is a tendency for something to go wrong, then I would prefer to have that information relayed upfront so I can mitigate the risk. I would prefer to pay more for a solution that works, than go through the changes required to remediate a known defect or an issue that could have been avoided with better information - if that is the case here. Like a dehumidifier that runs whenever is needed to keep humidity below XX%. * Within a few days of receiving our unit, it developed a slight rattle. It isn't lout and you wouldn't notice except on the lowest setting. The company suggested some things to try with the filters and device, but the rattle seems to be coming from the fan. They offered to replace it, but we've pitched the packaging and it is really a big hassle for such a little rattle. I'll keep this post updated on whether the rattle becomes worse or not. The company would not send me a prepaid return shipping label unless I provided them with photographs and surrendering all my personal information. They did however, send a return label but I was to be responsible for all postage. This product weighs quite a bit and the cost of shipping was astronomical and impractical for me to burden. I would not provide them with my personal information, so the claim had to be escalated through Amazon's A-Z claims department. The information this company wanted was unnecessary and served no legitimate purpose for the return. Surrendering my personal information would not correct any deficiencies with the product nor assist in any way with the return process. Terrible customer service which warrants a poor review. Do not purchase from this retailer... if you do, expect a huge hassle if there happens to be an issue with the product. The product itself seems to be of good quality and performed well until the problem. I would recommend this product, but from a different seller.
