Don’t worry, if you forget it outside for a few days, it’ll be just fine. Before I bought this, I didn’t have a green thumb at all. I always over-watered or under-watered and this little thing made me realize that you can water two plants on the same day and one plant will be dry the next time you check and the second plant may not need water for another few days. Since I’ve purchased these, I’ve been able to grow basil, lavender, strawberries, mint, lemon mint, lantanas, a butterfly garden, tomatoes, and sugar baby watermelon! Before I bought this, I could only grow bamboo (because you just have to remember to keep water above the rocks or sand that you plant it in. If you are unsure when to water, buy this thing. If you’re still unsure how much to water, when you do, it tells you how dry the soil is. And, if you still over or under-water, you’ll know when you check it again when and it reads either wet or dry. If that happens, just wait a day or two for wet soil, and I learned pretty quickly which plants to water like crazy (i.e. mint). Another thing that I learned is seeds bought online rarely work. I thought it was me, but when I bought seeds (for 6 different kinds of plants) locally and they all worked, I was shocked. I learned that expiration dates on seeds really matter. Seeds expire after approximately three years, and have to be stored in a cool, dry place. Some seeds that I bought online didn’t even list the expiration date, and you never know how they are stored. There is a great article about storing your own seeds on Good Housekeeping’s website. P.S.
