It is currently paired with an LG C2 TV via eARC (displayed as OPT/HDMI ARC, ARC when paired), however when switching inputs, it occasionally switches from arc to opt and loses all sound output. I have to manually click through the sound bar inputs until arc is activated again, or turn the TV off and back on. After 3 months of regular use, I hear an occasional crackling sound when it’s both paused and playing audio. The Bluetooth capability was a nice surprise, however after I connected my phone to it once, it seems like it’s always in pairing mode and occasionally it appears as if someone else in my apartment complex connects to it (which cuts all audio). Exchanged the TV to a more expensive Sony x90j because it had a headphone jack.. same kind of issues, so I could not blame the DAC. After getting hung up on twice by Sony support I found the hidden setting deep in the Sony menus... it said "Return the Sony TV to Best Buy and purchase an LG." So, I bit the bullet and spent about twice as much and purchased an LG C2 oled. HOLY SMOKES Sony are some weasles... the LG and this DAC go together like peas and carrots. Not even 1 malfunction, not 1 glitch, not 1 single problem whatsoever. Even the volume controls are seamless. I can run 24 bit 48khz lossless alongside 120hz 4k into the TV via HDMI 2.1 and the LG effortlessly passes it through to the Camway DAC with zero complaints or errors. And the sound quality is punching waaaaay above the price point. The LG TV sees this Camway DAC as a Panasonic soundbar. Not sure how Camway emulated that so perfectly but it works like magic. The big positive is sound quality. I have no issues with that. The built-in sub gives some nice bass. If you're expecting this to compare to a more traditional 5.1 setup, it won't be able to. Those will always be superior. I can't speak as to how it compares to other soundbars as this is my first one. The big negative for me is the control options, or lack thereof. The bar does not remember the last volume level when it switches off, and this cannot be controlled since the auto-off is always active. This means every time I turn on the soundbar, I have to re-adjust the volume level to match where it was last time. Yes, this is very much a "first world problem", but one would think the manufacturer/designer would have had this in mind. I don't need to adjust my computer or TV speakers every time I turn them on. This seems like a simple mistake that should have been taken into consideration. As far as I can tell, there's no way to get around this aside from leaving your TV on at all times with some programming outputting sound. I scoured Google trying to find a way to turn off the auto-off feature, or find a setting that could let me set the audio level for default, and unless you're hard of hearing, the default level is way too loud. Keep this in mind if you live in an apartment or have someone else on the other side of your wall. I wish I could speak more highly of this soundbar, but a minor design flaw killed this product for me. I'll deal with the two I have as best I can, but I can't recommend this if others wanted the same features I did. If by chance there is some setting that is able to address my concerns, then the manufacturer should have that information readily available (like in the manual). Buyer beware. What I liked 👍🏼: - portability - USB powered - RGB Lighting - good sound - 3.5mm input (connected in soundbar, so no chance of them getting lost) Both the USB & 3.5mm cable - Bluetooth 5.0 Things that need some tuning: - The volume knob continuously rotates in which makes it hard to know exactly which volume level you sit on. I think they need to create a stop point at max level. - I wish there was a way that we could select some of the RGB colors either with the multi-use volume knob or via an app (something to consider) - Now as someone who is very much into high quality sound this is actually a decent speaker. It’s not the best sound in the world compared to some of the high-end sound bars but for the cost and size it is more than good enough for its purpose. It’s not going to be bass heavy so for those of you that love that, be aware. I think across the spectrum of sound, it’s pretty well balanced. Personally I would request that they increase the bass just a small amount. I quickly learned that "supports" means able to play 1080p content, not able to play content in 1080p. What I was getting was a washed out 1080p movie in 720p. Think old box tube tvs. This experience was miserable. I was sold on the idea of a projector and realized I needed to spend more to get a better quality picture. I purchased a 120 inch pull down projector screen and a 1st generation Yaber V31, which actually plays content "natively" in 1080p. That was the key "native" vs. "supports". Images were vibrant and even with some ambient lighting viewable. I used my V31 for 5 years with no issues. I even connected my Nintendo switch and PS5 to it. 5 years later I wanted to upgrade my projector and made the mistake of buying a mini projector from a lesser known brand thinking it's been 5 years I'm sure tech has improved. Sure the image looked good around 60 to 80 inches, really not much bigger than my TV, and really washed out at larger sizes. I quickly put my Yaber V31 back in to play. I lost my remote and wanted to buy a replacement. Yaber offered to replace it for free. What an amazing company! My V31 is still running strong, but I wanted something new it's been 5 years since I bought my V31 and after looking at all of Yaber's offerings I settled on the Pro V7 it hit all the check marks for me, and boy am I glad I did! The image quality is far superior to my Old V31, even with 3 lamps on in the same room I still had a vibrant clear picture with the V7. See attached pictures at how bright my mancave was with the V7 running. I used to have to use a Bluetooth dongle to pair my old V31 with my Vizio surround sound system. It was always a pain. Now I can do it straight from the projector. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, my V7 goes in to a standby/sleep mode everytime I turn it off, but when I turn it on I have to repair it with my surround sound system, even when I leave my surround sound on. I'm not sure why it does that, maybe I'm doing something wrong. People are complaining about how loud the V7 is. I have no idea what they are talking about. My projector is literally mounted less than a foot behind my recliner practically over my head. I can't hear it over the sound of a small table fan I have in the same room and the projector is above my head. My surround sound definitely drowns out any sound from the projector. As for the audio from the projector when I first turned it back on after having it paired via Bluetooth to my surround sound I heard loud audio from behind me, but was confused because I have 2 satellite speakers behind me and a subwoofer, I was trying to figure out why the audio wasn't coming from the front facing soundbar. All I can say is if the audio was loud enough to fool me for a minute in to thinking it was coming from my surround sound that should be a good testimony to how clear and loud the audio is from the V7 projector. Yaber has won me over again with my second projector and phenomenal customer service. I can't imagine choosing another company to buy from. I've bought 4 projectors total and my 2 Yaber projectors have been amazing, the other non Yaber projectors were terrible. The V7 is an awesome product and we'll worth the buy! A few tips if you have a firestick or cube under display settings you can adjust the size of your image making it even larger at a shorter throw distance, or if you want to make the image smaller you can do that as well. Playstation 5 also gives you the options to set your screen boarders and again make your image larger or smaller. 6D keystone worked fine for me, not sure what people are complaining about. I used a 48 GBS 2.1 highspeed 8k gaming HDMI cord 4k@120hz and 8k @ 60hz for my Nintendo switch and PS5. Please don't use a cheap HDMI cable and blame it on the projector. Keep your expectations realistic your 4k content is being scaled down to 1080p, which still looks great. I've been playing COD Modern warfare 2, Destiny 2 and Diablo 4 with no significant issues with frame rate. Basically my Ps5 games look like PS4 games. Ideally the Nintendo switch works better on a projector because the games aren't natively 4k. They tend to be 720p in handheld mode and 1080 when docked, most nintendo switch games clock much lower frame rates. Pioneer Elite VSX-LX305 9.2 Channel Network AV Receiver 5 Nice, solid AVR Arctic*** I dipped my toes into better audio about 4 years ago, upgrading from a budget soundbar to a Pioneer Elite 104 and Klipsch Reference Premiere speakers for surround and Atmos. It's been very nice, but the receiver has no eArc, only 2.0 HDMI, no 8K, and no Imax Enhanced. Besides, having caught the bug, I recently upgraded to a Sony XR A80J OLED, a Panasonic DP UB820 4K blu ray player, and an Xbox Series X. So I felt I needed a receiver that would fully compliment the entire system. While I would have preferred the new Pioneer Elite 505 or the new Onkyo TX-RZ50 for a little more wattage (I was too slow and missed the boat, and too impatient to wait for new stock), I landed on the new Pioneer Elite 305. I'm running home theatre sound as a 5.1.4 configuration. It is absolutely wonderful, and provides excellent surround and Atmos sound without any distortion in my moderately sized dedicated home theatre room (16' x 19'). Dirac Live is a nice included bonus and it's definitely worth running it. I also believe this thing also performs well in stereo sound. PS5u*** First, if you are not going to use this product for the built-in microphone or to hear others using VOIP, you are better off purchasing a different Bluetooth neckset with better sound quality if your TV, soundbar, or AV system supports Bluetooth. Second, this product is ideal for gamers who want to play late a night when the house is super quiet, and you do not want to disturb people in rooms nearby. This is not a product for competitive gamers, it is best suited for casual team games. Sound: 3.0/5.0 The sounds are tinny, lacking mid to low range. Some games are fine, others are not that good. However, all of the small sounds you would expect in the game are there, they just lack fullness. This includes footsteps, weather effects, and other minor background sounds. Sound Accuracy: 3.5/5.0 The 3D effect is present and its nice being able to determine for the most part where specific sounds are generally coming from. Its better than a surround sound system, but not nearly as precise as my Sony Pulse. Microphone: 4.0/5.0 I maxed out the sensitivity on my PlayStation and was able to communicate with people in game and they understood everything I said without having to talk loudly. I have used it for multiple games and there have been no complaints, so its satisfactory for casual use. Build Quality: 4.0/5.0 Its sturdy and the controls are positioned easy to use. It needs to be charged, but I did not run out of battery during an evening of use. Functionality: 4.5/5.0 This is the reason to buy this product. However, the microphone cable needs to be wired to your controller. At first this was a negative, but after using for several hours I now feel it is a positive as you can easily use your controller to push the mute button ON/OFF for the microphone. Essentially, this allows you to be able to push to talk in games using just the controller which is very convenient compared to muting my Sony Pulse. Value: 2.5/5.0 Its expensive for the painfully average and for some games poor sound quality compared to other similarly priced necksets have much improved sound quality. Overall: 3.0/5.0 If you keep your expectations low regarding the sound quality, you might be surprised that the product might work for you as intended for casual use. Sonos Beam Wireless Speaker BAR GEN 2 - Black 1 Issue with June 2022 price, Dolby Atmos representation, and then with other reviewer's protestations Pro*** This is a top-rated product within its list price range (and beyond), with outstanding sound quality, and hence a solid purchase at $450. Pre-purchase due diligence should include looks at standard consumer-oriented sites (e.g., CR), as well as the usual tech evaluation venues. At all of these, the Sonos Gen2 soundbar is well regarded. 5-star rated by us for device performance, 3-star for instrusiveness to privacy, and 1-star for June 2022 price gouging at Amazon, the latter being so egregious that its weighting results in this overall low rating. 1. Reviewers protestations, le début. I did the first order soundbar installation [HDMI (ARC) cable, and power cord], and the unit functions immediately out of the box, providing enhanced sound quality with regard to streaming voice on a Sony TV system. (No test yet performed on music.) Granted, the app is required for the customization of the performance and interactivity, but at least with Sony systems, the soundbar connects and functions, adding substantial value, without further customisation. 2. Dolby Atmos. In this specific regard, buyer beware, perform due diligence. For a variety of televisions, this feature is inoperable. Look deeply into the compatibility of your television with the Sonos Gen2 device before purchasing, if this is a key motivation for your purchase. (While there was no issue with the Sony system, the instructions for the initial cabling make clear that there are a variety of other products where Dolby Atmos and other features are disabled for lack of compatibility.) 3. Price, $580 here as of June 2022, vs. $450 at other retailers, with the latter including package perks. This is a primary issue. The units are in short supply, and so the price at Amazon reflects gouging. The list for the product is $450 (rounding), and it is sold — e.g., at Costco — in a package that includes a voucher for a wall mounting bracket ($50 value), a $40 Apple gift card for music (or a comparable Spotify credit), and a further 30% discount on additional Sonos purchases. So, if the bracket and music promotions are of value, one pays $450 plus applicable tax for a package value of $540, versus being invited to pay $580 here for the soundbar, sans promotions. Even if not a Costco member, paying their basic $60 membership still makes the Amazon offer a poor alternative. 4. Reviewers protestations, la fin. I fully share my security colleague's general concerns about the demand for location service activity for the installation of the soundbar customisations via the app. But I am tempted to say, "The [computer security professional and researcher] doth protest too much, methinks", in particular from such a professional, who knows that every app is, essentially, a user tracking device, and every smart television, Android-enabled, likewise. (We leave our Sony-Android offline — no direct access to web, apart from the occasional ware update — managing streaming through an Apple TV as its only outside access.) Just open any of the variety of apps or tools available, and watch all the chatter going on between your smart devices and Mountain View, Seoul, Redmond, Tokyo, Cupertino, etc. Get sophisticated, Listen in. It's fun. Sad, but fun. With regard to the privacy issues this connectedness and the resulting chatter raise, there are simple choices to be made — sacrifice the utility that the smart device offers, or sacrifice the privacy that it demands you sacrifice in exchange. (We generally choose the former.) My objection to strenuous, long reviews of such a single aspect of a purchase — the fact that one is called to sacrifice privacy in exchange for the soundbar app's customisation functions could have been stated in two lines — is that a professional of the calibre of the earlier respondent, having done due diligence, would have inferred that to allow the customisation and synching that this unit attempts, that some sacrifice of privacy to the app would be demanded. In this household, the soundbar was purchased perceiving much of this, and we are now in the process of experimenting with a rebellious third-way of defiant trickery — using tools to dissemble regarding the location, using then deleting the app, etc. — in trying to retake the field in this us v. them privacy game against overly intrusive, utterly self-serving manufacturers. But as anyone with our experience knows, short of air-gapping machines (or Luddite rejection of modern connectedness altogether), there is no simple solution to maintaining both privacy and digital functionality (outside the EU in any case). Seller reached out and offered extensive troubleshooting. Unfortunately the device still shuts off at seemingly random times but it is due to lack of function from my television, TCL 55R635. The device works as intended as mentioned in my original review but you may run into similar inconveniences depending on your television & it's USB audio/power functionality. Product works as advertised but my unit loses connection after shutting off the TV for extended times. Turning it back on does not resolve it; i have to manually unplug & reinsert the HDMI cable for it to be detected again. I have it powered to a wall outlet and cables are all secure. Maybe its an issue with my tv and how it handles power to the Hdmi outlets but that seems unlikely as i have never had this issue with other ARC Soundbars or receivers. Product is awesome when it's working but this is definitely getting returned if I'm unable to resolve this problem. SubCone - 4 PC 5 Height needed to make more room on my 60 inch table (No Reviewer*** This was what I needed to make more space on my table. The reason is that I have the JBL 1300X soundbar and it is a beast of size even though I don't have the side speakers installed on the bar because I have them on the back of my table for the Dolby Atmos sound. This helped me to be able to put the soundbar a little further back since the monitor, a Corsair brand Xeneon Flex 45, takes up a lot of space on its legs. I recommend it if you need to raise your soundbar.
