So I designed a way to elevate the TV so I could put the bar in front, so I could see the LED readouts that are on the top of the bar. Also, this was necessary so that the TV sensor was not blocked from view. Note that Samsung recommends about 5" if bar is wall mounted, under TV. This was not our case, but it is a word of warning to others. I can say that BBC programs and Netflix do sound better. It’s a huge upgrade from the Series 6, which had been a great TV and in fact is still my wife’s new bedroom/gaming TV. Even though I’m not a fan of the GoogleTV OS, the tv makes using my preferred Roku OS very easy to use. It automatically instantly switches to the Roku input if you touch any button on the Roku remote. And it does the same thing with my Xfinity remote for cable, my Sony PlayStation 5 controller for my PS5, and my Sony 4K player! Just touch a button on the remote/controller, and the TV switches to the right input automatically. It’s a terrific feature that works out of the box without setting or adjusting anything, I’m assuming thru the EARC input. Additionally, the TV remote works automatically for the “play” functions on my Sony 4K player. This TV plays well with all my electronic equipment, including my soundbar, again automatically out of the box. It seems to be compatible with everything. It’s easy to set up, the sturdy metal pedestal base assembles with a screwdriver in minutes, and you can adjust the height to accommodate a soundbar. The pedestal base has a much smaller footprint than the widely spaced legs that seem to the norm for “economical” TV’s these days, and seems very secure once attached. Connect up your gear to the 4 HDMI inputs, and the TV does the rest, walking you thru simple menus to optimize picture, audio, and gaming features. It was the easiest and fastest setup I’ve ever experienced on a new TV. The picture’s just fantastic with bright colors and deep blacks. Blacks aren’t quite as pitch black as on premium OLED TV’s, but man, they’re REAL close for a lot less money. And you don’t have to worry about burn-in either. There are a ton of “smart” features you can use to really fine tune the picture, which can really improve the picture on older SDR DVD’s or internet content. HDR movies and games really pop either in HDR10 or dolbyvision. I mostly just use “filmmakers mode” for 4K movies, but again there’s a ton of features for people that like to tinker with settings. The unit itself is compact and powered via a 5V USB cable (power supply not included). It comes with a remote for power and volume control, which requires two AAA batteries (also not included). Setting up the unit proved challenging. It features an HDMI ARC port, and since my soundbar was using HDMI ARC, I unplugged it from the soundbar and connected it to the transmitter instead. After pairing my AirPods, I turned it on, but heard no sound. Next, I paired a set of JBL Bluetooth headphones, but still got no audio. I checked my TV's audio settings and noticed that while the HDMI ARC option appears when connected to the soundbar, it disappears when plugged into the 1Mii transmitter. For some reason, my TV fails to recognize the transmitter over HDMI ARC. Fortunately, the 1Mii transmitter includes an optical cable. Once I connected the TV and transmitter via optical audio, it worked right away. I was able to hear the TV clearly through both my headphones and AirPods. The sound quality is good, though neither my AirPods nor my headphones support the higher-quality codecs the transmitter offers. I don’t wear hearing aids, so I cannot comment on the transmitter’s Auracast feature for broadcasting to multiple hearing devices. Now that it's properly set up, I’m happy with the performance. The built-in speakers are convenient when I don’t want to connect anything else, and the Bluetooth, USB, and TF card options give me several other ways to play music. The controls are fairly straightforward, so switching between different sources hasn’t been difficult. What I like most is how versatile it is for such a compact player. I can move it between rooms, use it for background music, or connect it to other audio equipment when I want better sound.
