It’s been a little over a week. This is my first dash cam, so I have nothing to compare it to. We take about 6 – 8 long trips a year (1,000 – 2,500 miles each) and I wanted a dash cam in case there is an incident. The manual is very thorough and well written (i.e. English). I installed a hard wire kit (Amazon.com: Dash Cam Hardwire Kit USB C – OBD Power Cable with 24H Parking Mode, Low Voltage Protection & Driver Detection, Compatible with Redtiger, Wolfbox, Vantrue, Viofo, TERUNSOUL and Most Dash Camera : Electronics) which plugs into the OBD2 port. Much easier than messing with fuses. I tried other OBD2 hard wire kits (the ones with the switch) but the dash cam did not recognize parking mode. Modern vehicles have sophisticated electrical systems with BCM controlling switched circuits; all fuses appear to be hot even though most are just showing ghost voltage. I used AI to identify fuses and whether they were safe to tap; many are not good choices and could cause serious problems if tapped. Scary. OBD2 is plug and play. Hiding the wiring was not difficult, it just took some time. I had a couple of questions which I sent to the Terunsoul help email and received a prompt answer. They even followed up a few days later to check that I didn’t have any further questions. Great support! The video is very clear and smooth and can be viewed on a computer using either Windows Media Player or GPSPlayer (free app at gpsplayer.net/setup.html). The files are “ts” file type. GPSPlayer plays the video, displays the meta data (lat, long, speed, x, y, z, etc.), and the position on a map; it can display front cam, back cam, or front and back cam simultaneously. GPSPlayer also allows clipping a frame as a JPEG which can then be used in a photo enhancer. I’m not convinced I can read license plates of approaching/receding cars; there are free online apps that enhance photos and that may help in some circumstances. Reading license plates would be nice in case of a hit and run or a bump in a parking lot, but my real interest is to be able to prove fault in case of an incident. The iPhone app is easy to use. I can view video directly from the camera. Not great clarity but useful to see what the front/back cameras have captured. The app provides some setup of the dash cam but most of it is done through the menu system on the camera itself. The camera menus are easy to navigate and choose the settings. The included 128GB micro-SD card holds about 4 hours of video and then it will overwrite existing files. I am using mostly default settings on the camera (1-minute videos, parking mode is 1 frame-per-second and shutoff at 12 hours). The OBD2 plug runs full video for 5 minutes then shuts off (which activates parking mode). Inserting and removing the video card can be difficult, I use a small washer so I can push the card far enough in for it to engage/disengage. Overall, I’m very pleased with this dash cam. Kell Ric*** Probably the best picture quality I’ve ever seen in a dash cam. The front camera records in 4K, and the rear camera records in 2K. The image from the front camera is incredibly clear. There is no built-in screen, which makes aiming the camera a little more involved at first. You have to connect through the app to see the live view, but once it’s positioned correctly, it’s ready to go. Other than that, installation is very easy. It comes with a static-cling sticker and pre-applied double-sided 3M foam tape. The static-cling sticker is a great addition because it makes removing the camera later much easier than trying to peel 3M tape directly off the windshield. I live in an area that gets extremely hot during the summer, and I’ve had suction-cup mounts melt and fall off the dash before. Mounting the camera directly to the windshield works much better for me, but you do need to apply the static-cling sticker carefully. Make sure the windshield is cool and clean, remove any bubbles underneath the sticker, and press it down firmly. My 3M tape did pull loose once after the car had been sitting closed up in the sun, so that may be something to keep in mind if you live somewhere with very high summer temperatures. Thankfully, they include two extra static-cling stickers, along with extra front and rear 3M tape pads, in case you need to try again. The camera supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi‑Fi and connects directly to the app. It does not connect to the internet, which may be a positive or negative depending on what you want.
