A nice perk is the built-in backup battery, which allows you to release your phone even when the vehicle is turned completely off. Keep in mind that this backup only powers the clamp mechanism and does not actually charge your phone; the holder still needs to be plugged into vehicle power to activate the 15W wireless charging. The holder has worked perfectly except for one occasion. On a warmer day, I didn't have my vehicle's air conditioner running very cold, and the holder paused charging because the phone got too hot. Since it is mounted on the vent, keeping the A/C running should have prevented this issue on a warm day. Lesson learned. This is a well-made, highly functional device that is reasonably priced for the convenience it brings. If you are still throwing your phone in a cup holder, do yourself a favor and upgrade! You get two retractable USB-C cables, and for basic charging in the car or around the house, they are a pretty good value. The retractable design is convenient and helps keep the cable from becoming a tangled mess. It also makes the cables easy to store in a glove box, center console, or travel bag. The length is useful without leaving a lot of extra cord hanging around. Build quality is okay for the price. They do not feel especially premium, but they seem decent enough for normal everyday use. The retracting mechanism works as expected, and having two cables in the package is a nice bonus. One important limitation is that I could not get either cable to charge past 15W with any device or charger I tested. I tried several QC chargers that can provide 25W charging to my Samsung phone when used with other cables. With these cables, the highest readings I saw were 5V at 3A or 9V at 1.5A. Based on my testing, I’m guessing the cables are limited to around 15W. That is still fine for regular charging, but buyers expecting 25W Samsung fast charging or anything faster should be aware of it. Overall, the quality is acceptable and the retractable design is genuinely useful.
