I called myself measuring to make sure that at the lowest setting my feet could be on the floor but only my toes are touching because of the big poof at the front and my knees are barely going under my desk. In my excitement about finally getting a new chair, I threw out the boxes yesterday and did not realize that it was a mistake until I got the chair into the office this morning. The main problem is that the padding on the seat is a weird combination of way too firm and way too thin, one second my pelvis will be grinding on the plastic below, the next there will be uncomfortable pressure on my hamstrings. If I sit on this for any length of time, I’ll have trouble standing up and walking until I stretch my legs. I think it’s a very “opinionated” chair, it wants you to sit a very specific way and not deviate in the slightest. Very occasionally I hit the sweet spot and it’s fine, but it’s frustratingly hard to actually consistently hit that. The chair probably works fine if you’re someone who is comfortable sitting in exactly the same spot for hours, but apparently I need to move around a lot more than the designers of this chair intended. Incidentally, this is similar to the Aeron chair, which also had a very narrow and specific position to sit in. I’ll probably go back to using an IKEA chair, since it seems it has what I need - flat, wide and thick padding so I can adjust my body position whenever I feel. It really made the task of swapping out the part very easy. Plus the price was great. The only thing I should mention is that it took me a few extra minutes to figure out how to adjust the screw that allows for the cylinder to lock my preferred height in place. It's just a screw which you can adjust with an allen wrench. Without the adjustment the chair was dropping all the way down when you sat down and rising after getting up. I have tried the kind that you perch your butt on that has a lower bar for your knees - that was too severe of a knee bend for me to sustain and isn't adjustable. Thought I'd try this saddle. After two months, my butt is still not adjusted to the shape of the saddle. It creates pinch points where it curves under the thigh and I can't sit on it all day. I like the ability to adjust the tilt of the saddle (great for finding that sweet spot for my knees), but I still haven't found an angle that works for my butt and back. I end up alternating between sitting on it and standing at my desk - not a bad thing, but I want to be comfortable when I'm sitting.
