The contrast ratio is over the stated 1000:1 and you can really tell as the panel gives you deeper blacks than a typical IPS panel. It obviously won't beat an OLED panel in terms of deeper blacks, but it's no slouch. The response time is also a huge upgrade, especially coming from a 144hz panel. One monitor powered up and would only display snow. What is this, an 80s TV set? Returned for refund. (I originally planned to exchange it, but also discovered my work-issued laptop doesn't support two external monitors, and I didn’t need a replacement monitor elsewhere in the house). The second one works…kinda. It blanks out all the time, often during Zoom meetings when I'm screen sharing and demonstrating something. It usually comes back on within few seconds, though. It’s pretty random, and I can’t create a set of circumstances that will trigger it. Thought it was the connector. All my HDMi cables have fat plastic grips around the connectors, too thick to plug straight into the monitor without the connector coming out at slight angle. Got a 90-degree HDMI adaptor. Improved somewhat, but didn’t really fix it. Thought maybe my USB-C dock wasn’t pushing enough power to HDMI, even though it never had a problem with other (admittedly smaller) monitors. Replaced it with another dock. That seemed to work, right until it didn’t. I’ve come to the conclusion that Scepter is nice and cheap, and you get what you pay for. Caveat emptor. B0D8LH2VSP US

KYY Portable Monitor 15.6inch 1080P FHD USB-C, HDMI Computer Display HDR IPS Gaming Monitor w/Premium Smart Cover & Screen Pr 4 Great for office, work from home or anywhere in between Studmuf*** TL;DR PROS: +comparatively light weight +included case +sturdy case and bezels +sufficiently bright for indoor use +all cables included +optional USB power adapter included CONS: -Runs on the cooler, blue-er side -does not accurately display colours without tweaking, and still, it's not perfect This is generally a really great monitor for having the extra desktop real estate when one screen alone won't cut it. It's portable enough for the road warrior or working from the dining room table, and wraps up nicely in the attached folio cover for storage. To the unassuming eye it looks like a surface pro The box also contains screen protectors if that's your thing. The folio cover is magnetic and snaps shut and I have not had it flip open accidentally. The finish on the case feels soft to the touch, so this may be picking up dirt from general handling easily. By comparison with the weight of a 17" laptop in my backpack, including the additional weight of this is negligible. The frame is quite durable and definitely does not look or feel cheaply made. My main connections from the laptop to the monitor are using the included USB A to USB C cable for power, along with the HDMI to mini-HDMI cable for video. Also included in the box is a regular USB wall wart adapter for if you don't have spare USB ports or have underpowered USB ports on your device (think Raspberry Pi development board). Image quality in terms of sharpness, definition, clarity of fonts etc. is really good. Lines are crisp and small text is very easy to read running at 1080p with no scaling in Windows. The monitor is also bright enough for working long hours without eye strain, but may not look as bright if compared with an actual desktop monitor. It has a very nice wide viewing angle both horizontally and vertically, but you do notice a very slight change in the colours depending on the angles. This is by no means a retina display, so don't expect the display quality of an iPad. The downside however is that this monitor does not reproduce colours very well. This monitor runs on the cooler, blue-er side with the colours. There are some menu options to adjust the intensity of the red, green and blue colours, but try as I might, it just does not render purple all that well and some blue or green colours tend to look over saturated. By contrast, I had another portable monitor from another brand and that monitor tended to run on the warmer side of colours. My guess is that if you're looking in this price range for portable monitors, don't get your hopes up on colour accuracy. For the price, its an excellent portable monitor for the daily office grind, dealing with spreadsheets, email and endless video conferences.
