Fossil Coachman Quartz Chronograph Leather Watch for Men 2 Disappointing changes to the watch design, which are not shown in the product pictures. Ethan *** So I have a bit of history with this watch, i originally purchased one way back in 2014, and i had made it my casual and work watch. The work I used to do was incredibly rough and would have me out in the elements, yet this watch handled it all. Alas after over a decade the watch shows it’s wear, the leather is rank and worn from sweat and the elements, and its band keepers have recently disintegrated, however even through all the abuse the face never had worse than a few scratches, which is impressive considering how often i smacked it onto metal. It was a robust watch that matched its rather masculine looks, so as you can imagine i was ecstatic to see it was still available and on a good sale. Sadly they re-designed the watch, and yet the pictures here on Amazon depict the original band which is highly misleading of Fossil. My review photos will show comparisons of the new design vs. the original. to list off the many changes; This new band feels and looks like synthetic leather The strap color is more of a gray brown (my watch was dark brown like the picture when it was new) The rivets on the band used to be functional, along with the thread boxing it in, as these held the strap to the cuff. On the new watch they are merely decorative, and one line of stitching binds the strap to the cuff. The leather band on the original is thicker and somewhat domed within the areas that are stitched in, whereas the new strap is completely flat the band now has thicker and sloppier stitching, a singular oversized band is used for the strap keeper rather than the two smaller bands (as shown in the amazon product photos) the watch band now has circular holes instead of slits. the clasp design is simpler The hands on the watch face have been simplified All around the watch just looks cheaper than my original, and nothing like what is advertised. If i had to guess, Fossil wanted a way to make the watch cheaper to produce (more than likely by making a lot of the components more generic to cut down on unique manufacturing ectc.). Im hoping the plastic feel of the band is more due to the tanning process, if it gains a patina I’ll be content with the watch (particularly hoping it will actually look brown). but honestly I’m disappointed, and i have a feeling that this new watch can’t handle the same kind of rough treatment the original did. Also, I was new to watch collecting and didn't realize that for a little more, I could get a Rolex looking watch that isn't a hunk of shi...anyways, I was impressed with the watch when I received it. It looked really nice sitting in it's ginormous yellow box. If I squinted just right I could pretend the Invicta logo said ROLEX. The Miyota movement kept good time. The subarin..8926OB looked especially killer on a James Bond NATO strap. I ate some pancakes. All was right in the world. About 3 months into owning this watch I noticed the date was off so I pulled the crown out to set it and the crown stem came out completely. I had only worn the watch maybe 10 times at this point. I even let it sleep on my bed at night while I took the couch. On top of that, the watch insulted my mother, stole my girlfriend, and put a wad of gum on my pet rabbit's head. I've never owned a watch with such shoddy construction and loose morals. I'd send it back to Invicta, but it'll cost $25 to ship and 3 months before it's returned to me.
