Did have an issue with overheating, as it was set for 76 degrees, but it heated to 84 degrees before it was noticed. We turned off the filter and bubbler, as it is fairly loud in our family room. Very quiet, but has a little light on it that can bother you overnight if you're really sensitive to light when you're sleeping like I am. It works really well at getting to temperature and maintaining that temperature, however if you have fish that are particularly temperature sensitive, make sure to check the temperature regularly, just stick your finger in it and see if it seems too warm. I set up the tank and this heater a little while before getting a fish so that it could get up to temp and I noticed that it got a little warmer than expected and turned it off. It comes with a little sticker thermometer, but it doesn't give an exact temperature, it gives a range of temperatures and ones it goes above a certain temperature, it won't display it if it goes below that temp, so I recommend getting a thermometer if you're feeling particularly nervous about it, but overall it's a really good product and I really like it. I use it for my betta fish (Blue) and he seems very happy in it. His previous owner sadly had him in a tiny half gallon tank with no sort of filter and rough plastic decorations! He hardy moved in such a tiny tank so I immediately began looking for something better. For the price, I think this is a good tank. My only regret is not getting the 5 gallon. In my opinion the 3 gallon is just fine for one betta. The lights can be kind of intense so sometimes I put a cloth over the top to dim it out a little. However I like being able to switch between white or blue lights. There are a couple reasons I didn't give this tank 5 stars and that's due to the following; First, The filter pump is not the best quality but works fine in the small tank. It also seemed very loud to me at first, especially because it's in my bedroom and annoyed me a little at night. After having this tank for about two months now it seems like the filter runs a little smoother a quieter now. I have it set just barely above the lowest setting it can go. The output flow makes the surface of the water move and causes a few small bubbles. I like that you can direct the flow of the water and it doesn't seem to bother my betta fish. Second, the cover for the back compartment does not stay or click into place at all. It just sits on top and falls off any time you try to push back the lid. I fixed that by using some tape to keep it in place. I also bought a heater which fits perfectly and can be seen in the back left corner of the tank.
