I'm waiting for a reply within 72 hours. I have had this shredder for just over a year (purchased on 5/25/24). My previous shredder lasted for over 10 years and it was a cheaper one, so I obviously know how to use a paper shredder correctly, empty it at the appropriate time, not let it overfill, not put too many pages or the wrong items in it, etc. Today, I merely emptied it, tried to activate it from the "off" switch and it's completely dead. I tried other working electrical outlets and still nothing. Then I tried phoning the company (VidaTeco) for support, using the product support phone number listed, and got a "this is no longer a working number." The link to their webpage is also dead. I don't expect ANY shredder to die in slightly over a year. I spent $80.05 on this with tax. Absolutely unacceptable quality. My suspicion is that the motor just died. Make sure you are indeed feeding it into the top, because I found our first band, it won’t work the other way around (which makes sense). It is a good value for the price. I do recommend the lubrication sheets to keep your shredder humming along and working soundly. I shred all documents that have my information on it and for spam mail sent to me, I can enjoy the thrill of just shredding it in the envelope (although I do check to make sure no one put a nickel or penny inside). I have not had jamming issues, but I do respect the page limit. It does slow down if you put a lot of paper in at once. So I usually pull back for the next batch until I forget again. The function keys are simple. I appreciate that there is an auto, plus a forward and backward to help undo a paper jam quickly and easily. They shred portion top is a little heavy (but well made) and it is very simple to move about the house for all my shredding needs. I like that there is a window to keep an eye on the level of paper, but if you accidentally overfill it, the top pops up and stops working so that is also helpful. I would not recommend this for an office. it is just for home use, but it has a good capacity and has not overheated on me. When I take the top portion off, there are generally always some strips of paper that get loose, so i try to tap that against my garbage bin first to prevent it from getting on the floor. Michael*** Over the past 30 months I have owned two of these cross-cut models and they both ran flawlessly for just over one year each and then failed the same way. The paper feed sensors failed. When paper is put in, the motor starts but when the paper is gone, the unit does not stop. The unit runs and runs. Simple paper path cleaning does not work. It's not a "dirty thing". In the case of the first unit, it ran for 13 months before it failed. I disassembled the device and manually realigned the sensors. That lasted about 4 months. When it failed again, I threw it out. I replaced the unit with another, same unit thinking that lightning never strikes twice. Wrong. The second unit failed after 14 months. Same issue. Same fix. Only this time, two days after the fix, I returned home from a day at work and found the whole house smelling like hot machine grease and the unit running. It was too hot to touch. It had apparently been running for a very long time. I unplugged it, let it cool, carried it out and dropped it in the waste can. I'll try a different model this time. B0041G02M0 US
