I'm generally very cautious with scent control and besides washing cloths in scent free detergent and bathing in scent free soap,using scent free deodorant, spray and body deodorant I also use scent free travel cloths and change to hunting cloths at my truck at my hunting location. I added the Orion to my regimen with the dry bag at home and the unit in all my stands I hunt. I don't recall being winded this season which is good obviously. This morning hunting the rut I had a spike and two doe in three separate sightings go directly downwind of me and not spook. Twice though the stopped in their tracks downwind of me , looked around and then kept going without alarm. I then had The buck I'd been targeting come left to right approaching in what eventually would be downwind of me. I picked up by bow and was excited about getting a 30-40 yd shot with my crossbow on a very nice mature 8 pointer. The buck was on a trail that would put him in a shooting lane in about 15 seconds when inexplicably he stopped dead and looked right at me from 50 yds out. I was not moving and he wasn't in my scent cone. There was something he didn't like and he turned around and drifted off. Needless to say it was disappointing and maybe it was a sixth sense. I used a wind floater to check the wind and it was heading away from the deer. The morning was super calm and very quiet after a rainy night. I had read to use the boost mode on the unit and the fan was making a loud white noise sound. I have no other explanation other than the deee heard the fan because it was very quiet with calm wind and wet leaves so not a sound in the woods. That's the only reason I could think that he was looking right at me from over 50 yards at a time he was in some cover. Very odd. I still like the unit and believe it helps. I would just be mindful that on a calm day maybe don't use the boost mode. In hindsight, I’m not sure it will work as well for this purpose as I hoped because it fastens with a snap vs a buckle or zipper. Oops silly me, I missed this in the pictures and the seller noted the item as having a buckle closure in the product detail highlights. It does have a buckle detail, however it is purely aesthetic not functional. As a crossbody, the bag itself is beefy as the pvc plastic is a heavier grade; you’d probably have to work hard to get crease marks in it. I like that the strap is removable however there’s no alternate way to carry it unless you hold it in your hands or place it underarm. The metal portion of the chain could benefit from upgraded material; the chain is light and cheap feeling to me. All in all, the bag isn’t a bad choice as a crossbody, however I think there are other less expensive bags that will also do the job and may offer multiple carry options.
