This one fits the bill with a very high cost to value ratio. Just the right size and weight to rapidly fling snow away from the car when 3-4 feet fall during a work shift. More than sturdy enough to use on fresh snow but I haven't used it on an avalanche hardpack yet. Seems like it will do the job though. It's has the holes to be strapped onto a backpack but it's a bit heavy for that by today's backcountry equipment standards. Since I stow it in a car, that isn't a concern for me. In fact the extra weight is a bit of a plus when using it. Note that this is NOT an urban/suburban type of snow shovel. It is a cheap but sturdy and somewhat heavy stowable backcountry shovel. Meaning this is not the shovel to use to clear under 6" of snow off a sidewalk down to pavement. This is a shovel for bringing 4 feet of snow down to 8"-10" so you can open your car door, get in and drive it out. Digging snow out from under the car if you get high centered in the middle of nowhere. Rescuing someone you find caught in an avalanche. This shovel is not about neatness. Collin *** Having grown up with the frustratingly hard PC DOS version, and seeing the horror of the Nintendo versions on Youtube many years later, when I heard of this version by Sega, I was a little hesitant to try it. Who wouldn't be after the Nintendo version? Luckily, the Sega Genesis version is BY FAR the best of the bunch. While not a very long game, it contains a fair bit of replay value as you try different difficulty levels, new weapons, and even discover a couple hidden secrets. The story follows the movie as well as it should, while deviating just enough to make things more interesting. Like in the movie, the infamous Wet Burglars are casing Kevin's neighborhood, and only Kevin is around to make sure that things don't go as planned. Unlike the movie, the burglars, Harry and Marv, are not just after Kevin's house; they're after several houses in the area, and it will take good planning and strategy to make sure they go to jail without anything to show for it. When you enter a house when the burglars aren't around, you have the opportunity to set traps from a limited number of stock. However, you can accidentally get caught in some of the traps yourself, so be careful. Kevin also has several weapons he can use. He starts out with just the iconic BB Gun, but he can also assemble more powerful weapons from things he finds around the houses. Once in a while, the Wet Burglars will enter one of the houses and start searching for safes to open, if they successfully steal all the loot, they will flood the house, making it impossible to use for any purpose. If Kevin does enough damage to them, through traps and weapons, they will make a temporary retreat, and any loot they have acquired so far will return to the safes for the time being. The game is over when either all the houses are robbed, or if Kevin successfully defends them long enough for the police to arrive. The amount of time this takes depends on the difficulty. Upon the completion of a game, you will be ranked on how many houses are left at the end, and the difficulty you played at; a nice touch that adds replay value. Each of the houses has a unique theme, there's Kevin's Mansion, a super-modern house of the future, an old, rotting dump, and a couple others. Each house also has a unique hazard to be avoided, like the guard robot in the ultra-modern house, or Buzz's pet spider in Kevin's house, for example, that will affect both you as well as the burglars. Besides the simple but nuanced gameplay, the graphics are also quite nice, sporting a bright, colorful, cartoony style that works well for the source material. There are many unique animations for when you hit the burglars with different weapons which just might make you chuckle when you see them for the first time. Kevin and both Wet Burglars resemble their movie counterparts quite well, and are instantly recognizable if you are familiar with the movie. Backdrops pop with detail, and nothing is an unrecognizable mess of pixels. The music isn't too memorable, but doesn't annoy. Each house has its own theme song that fits it, and is generally fun and cheerful. The controls, while serviceable, might take a minute to get used to. Kevin's jump in particular is a little wonky, but you should quickly get used to it. All in all, this is an excellent adaptation. One of the best movie to game adaptations of the era.
