It's a good size so it's great for fairly large meals. And it's quite easy to use and to control. Just set the temperature to one of three settings, set the timer, and it's good to go all day. The settings don't specify exactly what temperature each setting is in degrees so you'll have to use a bit of trial and error to figure out which to use, but I found the low setting to be adequate for a light simmer and the high setting good for just a little bit more. I love the lid that seals firmly shut and attaches with clasps so it's easy to carry to potlucks or family functions, and the crock itself is easy to remove and clean (though it's quite non-stick so cleaning is also easy). All in all, if you're looking for a great crock pot that doesn't have too many extraneous features but just does what it does and does it well, this might very well be exactly the one you want! One other small criticism is how challenging it can be to wash the (relatively heavy) ceramic liner in a sink; it’s large, fragile, heavy and slippery when wet. If you have smaller hands, or are an older individual with reduced grip strength, you might have a hard time. It functions exactly as it should though. I bought a new cookbook, looked up more recipes on line, and started using a slow cooker again. Then I bought this book on the recommendation of a co-worker. What a disappointment! Many of the recipes are so similar as to be virtually indistinguishable- is it really necessary to have more than one recipe for pork and sauerkraut? (is it necessary to have ANY recipe for pork and sauerkraut?) The recipes rely heavily on processed foods- canned vegetables, soups, sausages. The temp settings seem to be fairly true to temperature, and it cooks nice and evenly. This is a good product from what I've seen so far, time will tell after I have used it more as to it's durability. There are a few things that keep me from rating it higher then a three. First, the outside of the unit gets hot to the touch. This seems to be common with most brands today. The porcelain is nice but did have a few very small imperfections in it where there was dust in the finish. Barely worth mentioning. The one thing that I probably liked the least was the glass lid with the steel rim. When I set it on the counter is seemed relatively flat, but when I put it on the pot, it doesn't seem to seal as well as I would like. The first time I used it I was hearing a popping sound from the lid, and noticed that it was coming from the top where the handle was put on. After I loosened it, it seemed to stop. Probably the glass expanding and contracting and I think it was probably put on too tight. All small issues, and I'm a picky person, but I think these are things that could be better. If Nesco would charge more and put a heavy glass lid on this unit that sealed up well, I'd give it five stars. B07GB8C52S US
