The food compartment is lined with a metallic material you'd see on a cooler to keep things cold. There are two main compartmens. Unfortunately, the food compartment extends into the main compartment, which takes up a lot of space, even if it's not full. There are some nice features for travel including a zipper lock, two side mesh pockets for water bottle, cell phone, etc. Unfortunately, I can't use this for work and take my lunch from home, as it's just too small and doesn't have enough smaller pockets for other various items I need to take to the office. However, I still think this is a good bag for certain use cases where food is the main reason to bring it. This could replace a lunch bag or smaller cooler. The stitching and overall workmanship are excellent, the straps are well-padded, and the construction is thick and thorough throughout. It’s clearly built to last. It also has a strap on the back for sliding onto a luggage handle, which is a nice touch for travel. With my lunch kit fitting neatly in the bottom insulated compartment, it actually helps keep my food at a better temperature and puts less strain on the lunchbox’s battery since it’s not fighting against outside temperature swings as much. My laptop and everything else goes in the main compartment up top. Net result: I’ve gone from carrying two bags to just one. As an added bonus, this is also becoming our new travel medical bag — the insulated bottom compartment is great for keeping medications that need to stay cool at a safe temperature while flying, while the main compartment handles everything else. Pros: • Excellent stitching and overall workmanship • Well-padded, comfortable straps • Insulated bottom compartment fits a lunchbox/cooler bag and holds temperature well • Fits laptop and gear comfortably in the main compartment • Luggage handle strap for travel • Doubles as a great insulated bag for medications or cold items when flying Cons: • None so far — does exactly what we needed Insightfulness: Five out of five.
