I have a Honeywell 50250 HEPA air cleaner. Bought it in 2021. Back in 2021 when I first put filters in my new unit, and turned it on, I immediately noticed a nasty odor. In that case, it was definitely the pre-filter, which just stunk. And those were “Honeywell”/Kaz filters. As this unit is being used in a bedroom where my two birds are, there was no way I was going to use it with those filters. The old filter from my previous Honeywell unit, which had stopped working, was used instead (it fit perfectly)…and five years later it still is. Finding good quality filters is very difficult. I don’t buy into all the hype about having to replace the pre-filter all the time. The only real purpose it serves in my mind is to prevent most and bigger debris from clogging the HEPA filter…which in my mind is what really counts. Replacing pre- filters frequently are, in my opinion, a way to get more money from consumers…JMHO. (Any way to make money, like offering dirt cheap printers that all require ridiculously high-priced ink cartridges) HEPA filter is difficult to clean, so the pre-filter helps a bit with that. I clean both with a brush and shake them outside, then vacuum. The charcoal in the pre-filter is supposed to suppress odors…but if it’s not made well and emits its own terrible odor…what’s the point? Seems to defeat their purpose. I have to wonder what these things are *really* made of now. If the pre-filter was made the way it should be and without the odor, why would it need to be replaced unless it tore or you could no longer clean it effectively? Here are issues with both filters in this set: 1. Filters are just in plastic bags, not in a manufacturer box, and there’s no company name or info, indication of where it’s made, etc. First clue it’s lesser quality. 2. The pre-filter is very dense. Original Honeywell ones…those made in early 2000’s, when Honeywell’s products were actually Honeywell-made products, were a bit looser. Not so loose a to let debris get through, but enough to allow air to flow through effectively to the HEPA filter so it can function as intended. 3. The pre-filter emits an awful odor when first used. I ran the unit continuously for 24 hours, in a larger room away from the birds. Though it did lose some of the strength, it was still there. This is not unommon with today’s replacements. As I mentioned previously, the one that came with the unit did same, as has every pre-filter I have ever tried in the years since. If you can tolerate a bit of smell, and are not using it around pets or people with breathing issues…I have asthma, and it made me start coughing immediately…maybe you’ll be okay with it. Otherwise, I would suggest looking elsewhere. 4. The HEPA filter doesn’t seem to be a source of odor as far as I can tell, but the black rim is nasty. Though the rim has to be pliable enough to create a good seal, this one is downright rubbery. There is some substance that's smeared on it. And after running it for 24 hours, the rim is now sticky to the touch. I live in FL, and it’s common for rubber to get sticky…but after a while, not 24 hours. And my house this time of year is at 45-50% humidity with a/c on and several dehumidifiers. 4. I noticed the airflow was not as strong with these filters. Might be because the pre-filter is so dense…not sure. Not at all acceptable to me. Back go the old filters, which I know are safe. I’m tired of spending hours online, looking for parts for stuff…especially for something that’s not that old. It’s ridiculous and frustrating. This is being returned. B07T8DSTW3 US

BREEZOME 6L Humidifiers for Bedroom Large Room & Essential Oil Diffuser, Ultrasonic Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifiers for Baby, 1 Beware - Mold Making Machine Sama*** Having owned this for nearly an entire year now, I feel this is the most accurate way to describe this humidifier. No matter how often I clean it, which is once every five days and not just a quick rinse, a thorough take apart cleaning, I still find CHUNKS of black mold everywhere. No matter what I do, the tank leaks into the base which just creates even more mold. I’ve tried white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and bleach to no avail. The exterior easily builds up calcium so I constantly have to clean that with vinegar as well. For what I spent on this thing, the amount of hours I’ve lost trying to keep it from poisoning me and my partner (cleaned roughly SEVENTY times) was absolutely NOT worth it. It is by far the biggest hassle I’ve ever spent money on and one of my biggest regrets. It is simply UNSAFE. I will be looking for a safer humidifier now and it will not be from this company. Please beware of this issue when considering purchasing this product as it could sneakily be impacting your health in a big way. I honestly can’t believe I’ve kept it this long, perhaps I was just too upset to admit defeat and the total waste of $70. See photo for just a tiny sample of the black mold that comes out of this machine but times it by 10 every single time I clean it. I suspect there’s actually just an issue with my machine but either way there are simply to many compartments of this machine waiting to grow mold.
