AprilAire 500 Whole-House Humidifier + Automatic Control 5 Good unit - not for the weak DIY Bria*** Just spent a whole day installing this unit so I have not been able to see the results just yet BUT i can definitely speak on the unit itself and install. This is not for the weak DIYer. This takes time and a lot of thought if you have never installed one of these units before. My father and I thought this would be a couple hrs to install when we saw the instructions only have 9 steps. There is much more to it. I found the wiring being the most difficult because this unit can run on auto. Meaning you can set it to a level of humidity and the unit will automatically run throughout the day to make sure your home stays at that level. In order for it to do that, you have to disconnect the G wire and run a complete circuit with the 24 volt and back into the G slot of the furnace haha confusing right? They’re videos out there to make it easy and it’s not that bad but just takes a lot of time and thought. This can be done, but you need patience and if you don’t have that, just hire someone. Some reviews complain about the lack of warranty. Well if you self install yourself, like I did….yea who’s to say I didn’t do something wrong and why would the company honor a warranty when they tell you to hire a professional to install.
