However, the product has an auto-shut-off "feature" that turns the scale off way too soon: 2 minutes without any actions; 5 minutes when only using the timer. This seems utterly absurd to me and makes the timer's usefulness more limited. Using a coffee scale is a great way to get the correct ratio of coffee to water. The general rule is between 1.5g to 2g of coffee to every ounce of water depending on how strong you like it and what type of beans you use. I like a strong and bold cup of coffee so I use 2g of coffee per ounce of water. In my pics you can see I ground 32g of coffee for my 16oz coffee mug. It was perfect. The scale is very small and simple. On the left side of the unit is the timer. Tap the button to start and stop the timer and push/hold to zero it back out. On the right side is the power/tare button. Tap it to power the unit on and tap again to tare. Also it will auto tare at power up if your container is on the scale when you turn it on. It also has a rubber mat that fits over it to protect it from spills and scratches. In my pictures I powered the unit on and let it zero. Then I put my container on (199.4g). The power button caved in and it still worked but I knew it wasn't going to last to much longer. I also had dropped it once within the 1st year and it continued to work just fine but just recently was was the power button issue. Jonathan*** I love this scale. Rechargeable battery (with usb-c connection), built in timer, 1/10th of a gram accuracy. I use this every morning to measure out coffee. Some days I use my bonavita automatic brewer so it's just for a few seconds. Most days I'm making Chemex or Aeropress and am using the scale for seven to ten minutes (and maybe a second batch mid-morning). I've had the scale since the middle of February and have only charged it one time so far. As of this morning I still have over 50% charge left. It's sleek (all black goes great with my setup), and the rubber nonslip mat works perfectly with little drips of water. 10/10 would buy again!
