The Forex Trading Course: A Self-Study Guide To Becoming a Successful Currency Trader 2 Don't waste your time Richard *** This book is supposed to be for beginners in forex. But it is very poorly done. It mostly deals with fundamental analysis, but in a very unorganized and unstraight forward fashion. He shows bar charts and candlestick charts without bothering to explain how to read them. He even starts talking about pips without explaining what a pip is. Then he just gives the standard overview of technical analysis. Nothing truly in depth. He mentions using a practice account, but kind of pooh-poohs it. Then he challenges people to open $5,000 and $10,000 accounts and make 10-15 pip trades. This is not good in my opinion. A person should open a practice account an stick with it until they can make money consistantly. Then they should open a small account ($1,000-$2,000) and trade partial lots till they get the hang of it. And unless they like scalping (10-15 pip trades), they should aim for 100 pip trades. The only way I could ever make only 10 pips is to risk 30. Read Currency Trading for Dummies. It is a very well thought out, organized, and certainly more informative than the Forex Trading Course. The dummies book also has suggested reading at the end for further study. The Forex Trading course has a few books mentioned throughout, but considering how bad The Forex Trading Course is put together, I wouldn't trust the books listed outright. 0471934410 US
Thirty Days of FOREX Trading: Trades, Tactics, and Techniques (Wiley Trading) 3 Good but..... Kasu *** I have started studying trading about three years ago and Forex specifically for about a year. I find Raghee to be honest and her methods to be simple and I can see how they would work if followed. I myself use Fibonacci levels and MACD and find that they work after a fashion like everything else in trading. I find it refreshing that Raghee does not try to hype anything in her book (she doesn't even try to sell her indicators). She does like eSignal which is understandable. The key to any system is that you have to give it time to work. It is very probable to get a string of losses, at which point most traders switch systems. This would be a big mistake. Any trading system must be evaluated over a period of time to get consistent results. All that said, this book needs a good editor. While the initial chapters are a good introduction, it is not always clear what Raghee is talking about. For example, it would be nice to have a clock face next to the chart to indicate the trend. I can't always see the trend that she is talking about. I am not sure whether she's refering to the right edge or the candles leading upto the right edge. Sometimes she seems to lose her train of thought. It would have been nice to have a position chart at the end of each day. While she identifies entry, exit, and stop on the chart, I am not sure which position that she took. This may have prompted the previous reviwer to conclude that she is not a trader. As it is you have to really read this book with a pen and paper to figure out what trades to take (may not be a bad thing). Raghee, if you read this, you may want to post the trades that you took during this period on your web site. That will go a long way towards validating your method. Overall, I find this book useful. 0738702595 US
Book cover The Urban Primitive: Paganism in the Concrete Jungle 4 a different perspective...from Raven and from this review crackpot, *** I liked this book, for many of the reasons that those who gave it poor reviews disliked it. First some disclaimers: 1. I'm not a Wiccan. I follow a very different magickal/spiritual path, but I see value in learning insights from other traditions 2. I'm a dyed in the polyester urbanite. The raw natural world gives me hives. 3. I have academic degrees in folklore, semiotics and mythology and regard things from these perspectives as well as my spiritual experiences. First, to those who object in general to the introduction of "urbanism" or technology into "earth centered religions": do you use a knife in your rituals? Metal doesn't grow on trees or lay about waiting to be found. It's manufactured using a very technological process from raw ore. Use a wand? Manufactured too, unless you just point a stick you found at things. It is in our "nature" as a species (wordplay VERY MUCH intended) to alter our environment through the use of tools. That does not remove the things we make from nature. (Gasoline? Just a long-dead dinosaur run through some tools, my friends. A lot of hard-to-deal-with waste products, but it's basically recycling!). Unless your version of earth-centered translates to going back to an australopicathine level of technology (and if it does, I pity you), you've modified nature to practice your art. And so it should be, as that is our role as a species -- to interact with our world in this fashion (while maintaining respect for the unity and essential sameness of all). That we've been out of balance in the past, implementing our technology without regard for its impact on nature is wrongandshould be redressed. But let's not throw the baby away with the bathwater. (BTW, use soap? Technologist!)However, I do agree with the reviewer who pointed out that you shouldn't have gasoline on your altar if you're lighting candles. Spiritual should not equal stupid. Next, as to the three aspects of god and goddess in the modern environment: I freaking loved them. Why? couple of reasons. First, let's point out that the historical forms of these entities (Diana, Isis, the Horned God, etc.) aren't REALLY their essences. They're representations of principles of masculine and feminine traits and energies that make it easier for people to relate with (whether we believe those essences have an existence independent from ourselves or not). I think most of us don't live in an egyptian-flavored environment, so it's probably easier for us to relate to an urban, modern female archetype than, say, Isis or Hathor (unless you're one of those fantasy-fiction inspired, fluff-bunny, historical reconstructionist/re-enacter types. Which would be silly.) Next, why the hell do you think people worship gods (or in my case bargain with spirits) in the first place??? Certainly we want to express gratitude and admiration for the world they manifest, but we also want their help in our everyday lives! And so did our bucolic ancestors. Praying for a good harvest is less important in my life (and the lives of most urban folks) than praying for the inspiration to get a job/clean my house (Sarge), finding good parking spot when I need one (Squat) or getting laid (Skrew). Different representations of the same essences for different contexts and needs. Simple, really. And doesn't at all prevent one from calling on the historical representations of these entities when their intervention is more appropriate. And, if you think about it, how is calling on the goddess of dumpster-diving different than a hunter-gatherer calling on his/her spirits or gods of hunting to find a straight stick in the forest to make a good spear? Different jungles is the only difference I see... I'm not saying this book should be taken word for word -- some of it I find goofy, but endearingly so. I AM saying that it makes an important contribution to pagan/earth-centered/whatever spirituality -- as our environment has changed so has our symbolism and our daily concerns. As they change, so must our understandings of how universal principles act on us and how we relate to them. The book is a roadmap (or perhaps travelogue) of how the authors did just that. And it should betaken for being just that, as well as inspiration for each reader to start his own trip through the simultaneous realms of city and spirit. 0835817229 US

Light a Candle 5 Power Of Candles B. G*** I bought this book for a friend. She had read one of Sylvia's books and had enjoyed it immensely. Especially the part with the affirmations, prayers, and candles. She said that it brought her an inner peace. I had a similar experience with a candle. I was so distraught one night and a friend of mine had suggested lighting a white candle. I did and was immediately calmed. Many religions utilize candles in their ceremonies and rituals. It is thought to bring God and spirits of our loved ones who have passed, closer to us because they don't respond to artificial light. I can't tell you that it is a cure all or if it is just your mind trying to except what you are feeling. What I can say is that it has brought comfort and joy to my friend and myself. 0971853649 US
Professional Stock Trading: System Design and Automation 5 I love this book and the codes ... Allan*** Folks, try to get this book for under $100 if you have a chance. I think the authors may have realized that they have made a mistake by pricing the book at $70. The source codes alone are worth many times over. I challenge anyone to find a deal in eBay with these many trading codes for under $300. There are only 5000 copies in print, the copies in Amazon are sold out. You can still find a few available else where. Once they are gone, if you want the codes, you need to buy the CD from the authors, and it won't be $70. I will add to this review after I finished the book. Added April 08, 2007: After I've gone through the book with greater details, I love the book and the codes even more ! sure it's very basic, but this is not the point. The point here is to learn how to build systems via studying the codes. It's almost paradoxical that whilst giving you all the codes actually forces you to learn the codes yourself for the diligent students. I am a programmer myself, hence I don't find the codes difficult. On the other hand, due to the richness of codes scattered through out the text, one must take his time going over the ideas presented. (By the way, the codes and algorithms were professionally designed either by the authors or outside contractor(s) hired by the authors). For example, Say you are reading over the section on AcmeTail, well, you need to stand back and think about why a candlestick with a long tail is caught by function, what would happen if you change the percentage value, why did the change caused more or less candlesticks to be caught, etc. Do up a few PaintBar studies to test the function independently until you are satisfied with the results. By the way, I love the idea of implementing all the exit strategies in the Acme Trade Manager, brilliant! The point here is to test the codes and see how they work, and through reviewing, testing and debugging (with some of your codes mixed in), the student will hopefully masters Easylanguage. After you finished this book, you are ready to incorporate your trading ideas using EasyLanguage via the framework set out in this book. 1400204666 US
Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe 4 Book Review: Desperate Leah *** I began reading Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe by Sarah Mae and Sally Clarkson while waiting to find out if Our Boy was autistic. I had a lot on my mind and I found that Desperate was written in an easy to follow format. Each chapter begins with a short letter from Sarah, to her mentor, Sally, whose letter follows. Both ladies "flesh out" the material in the rest of the chapter. The chapters end with a few study questions as well as a QR code and web page address that leads to a short video that features the authors. The study questions and video content make this a great book to read with a friend or a small group because it doesn't require the purchase of additional videos or study guides in order to use it for this purpose. Surprisingly, I found this book to be a great encouragement to me in dealing with mild depression. Sally provides a short checklist to use whenever one feels a case of "the blues" coming on: 1. Do I need sleep? I need to do whatever it takes to restore physically. 2. Have I been reading my Bible? Even if it is putting an app on my phone with a voice I can listen to while still in bed in the morning or at night, I need to hear from the God who walks through these valleys with me. 3. Do I feel alone? I need to call someone who is a spiritually engaging friend, one who loves God, loves me, and whom I can completely trust. I will meet that person for coffee or lunch to share my heart and to ask for prayer. 4. Am I watching my health? Exercise is a stress reducer and helps happy hormones to develop. I have developed the habit of walking and hiking. 5. How can I get help? Is there someone who can help me clean my home? Do I have a friend I can ask to keep my kids, so I can have a little time away? 6. What do I need to invest in the joy factor of my life? Am I creating spaces of beauty for my own soul-candles, music, fresh flowers and other such life-giving things? Perhaps it's as simple as going to a movie with my husband or friend, or buying a new scarf. (Loc 1136-1151) However, one of the two primary concerns that I had in reading this book is that it doesn't mention knowing when to seek professional help while dealing with depression. The authors seem to treat it as just a spiritual case of "the blues" instead of a potentially serious, multifaceted (spiritual/medical/mental) issue. In the paragraph following the checklist, Sally writes: There are so many different personal issues to consider, but I have found that sometimes when we choose to look away from the mountains of anxiety and stress that have endangered our souls, and instead attend to our souls, we will find that the depression will quickly dissipate. (Loc 1151) My second concern is the mention of autism in the Q & A section of the book. To paraphrase the question, a mother is concerned about her children being clingy and overly shy. After encouraging the mother to know her children and to help them work to overcome their fears (as she should), Ms. Clarkson writes: Also, if some of these areas persist through the years, you might look for symptoms like clinical OCD or autism or other issues. (Loc 3163) As someone who now knows more about autism spectrum disorders than she ever wanted to, it would have been better for the authors to suggest that the parent address their concerns with their pediatrician. Overall, I find that the advice given is pretty solid (aside from the two items mentioned) with it's emphasis on seeking out what the Lord wants from us as mothers instead of what we *think* we need to be. After all: The kingdom of home is the place of refuge, comfort and inspiration. It is a rich world where great souls can be formed, and from which men and women of great conviction and dedication can emerge. It is the place where the models of marriage, love and relationship are emulated and passed on to the next generation. One of the great losses of this century is the lost imagination for what the home can be if shaped by the creative hand of God's Spirit. (Loc 437-452) What a great influence we mothers have on our children! Book cover Trading: Technical Analysis Masterclass: Master the financial markets 4 Book is engaging and easy to follow Carla *** The book is engaging and easy to follow, and it helped deepen my understanding of candlestick patterns and chart formations. I especially appreciate how it clearly explains core technical analysis tools while connecting them to practical examples. However, the learning experience would have been improved if the charts were easier to read—presenting each one on a separate landscape-oriented page could have made a big difference. Big Jake 3 So Much for Loyalty and True Friends Crime Con*** I have seen Big Jake several times over many years and still find it fun. However, I've always had a real problem with the ending which apparently no one else writing a review even noticed. Dog and Sam SharpNose are important characters (none of the calamities would have been salvagable without the two of them), yet they are the only two "hero" casualties in the adventure. That would have been acceptable though not welcome, if their sacrifices had been acknowledged. I could not believe the ending when it seemed as if everyone was tired of filming so decided to close it down with a happy conclusion and go home and go to bed. Is it possible there were a few more scenes which were edited out for some reason? All the McCandles "boys" walk away happily smiling with absolutely no mention of Dog and Sam who were hacked to death making the happy ending possible. No one even seems to notice they are dead let alone think of burying them or pausing a moment for reflection/appreciation of their contribution. Little Jake can be excused --- after all he didn't know them, but there's no excuse for the others --- especially Big Jake who supposedly valued and respected them as companions. Though not on a par with his movies like The Shootist, True Grit, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, or even Stagecoach, It could have been better if the ending had any heart. B0002PW0WO US

When the Feeling Hits You 4 Late Night Classic Cam S*** I began to be a big fan of Sammy Davis after buying the box set "Yes I Can." Thankfully Collectors Choice is reissuing many of his former albums recorded at Reprise. I had already bought the first 9 put out last year, and just last week purchased "When The Feeling Hits You." Although I thought this was a live album, it is "Recorded Wild in Las Vegas." You will need to read the liner notes. Anyway, I got home late and put this CD on. As I said, put the lights down, light the candles, grab your sweetheart and let the night begin. My favourite track is "This Is Always." I am listening to this track as I write this. Pure perfection!!!!! Sammy and the rest of the gang may be gone, but perfect treasures as this will live on forever. Enjoy!!! Cam B000BIZWEA US

Steven J.*** I got this for my dad with the "chic oil burner," and its perfect for a guy. My dad, unlike me is a very macho and masculine mans' man. This is a very good scent for a man because most men don't want to sell like they are trampling through a lilly field. This has a pleasent scent but isnt offensive to most people. My father uses it to eliminate the smell of smoke in his room, and just to add some freshness to the air. I think for a guy this is the pefect kind of room fragrance you could ever find. On a personal note, I think it smells like old people....but he, and his friends love it. But I will still take me lillac vanilla candles any day of the week. Captai*** Yeah, that was my first thought until Ii received the Jasmine Candle as a gift last year and I absolutely loved it, I wanted to buy another one until I saw the price! Having wasted $ 40 dollars on a range of sickly sweet and artificial smelling Yankee Candles I decided it was time revisit Diptyque candles and once again they are outstanding. The feu de bois candle is truly the smell of a real wood fire, I can't describe it any other way. It's worth every penny, and if it is anything life the Jasmine candle, it lasts forever. You only need to burn them for 20 mins or so for the perfectly balanced, gentle fragrance to fill the air. No I don't burn it every day, or in the bathroom, $2 IKEA candles are great for that and I probably wouldn't buy more than one or two of these a year, but if you really want to treat yourself to something amazing I would highly recommend these. We put them in some battery operated wall candles that light for 3 hour per evening and they need recharging after only a couple weeks.
