I decided it needed a new head as the ratcheting pins were worn. It's at that point I found out this model has an integral motor/head as one piece. I would have to replace the motor to replace the head. It seemed the whole trimmer was doomed. That's when I found this alternative blade head that saved the trimmer. This comes as a replacement cap (like the one that holds the string reel on the head) with built in blade holders. Simply remove the cap and string spool , then snap the blade assembly onto the head and it's ready to go. And, boy does it go! I put it through its paces right out of the box. I had a different design years ago that failed miserably with weak blades that broke off. So, I wanted to make sure this was the real deal. It is. I intentionally ran into objects I normally encounter with my string trimmer: rocks, sidewalk edges, trees, etc. Not one blade broke; however, the blades tore the heck out of some objects. A 2x4 I hit had a chunk eaten out of it. It will debark a tree base, so I need to be very careful around them. I accidentally hit the vinyl siding corner on the garage and this blade tore huge chunks out of it. Weeds in the field that were over 18" high were no match as this cut through them, including briar/wild berry bushes, small tree starts, green and brown grasses, you name it. To say I'm happy with this blade kit is an understatement. Not only was it an easy fit, it saved the trimmer from being discarded. It came with lots of extra blades, but I shouldn't need them with the way this held together on my first challenge.
