B*** I ordered two of these for my four semi feral cats. They were easy to unpack and put together--I had to hunt for the air release valve as there was no indication as to its location. I found it under the outside flap of the bottom cover. I have these on my back porch which I had enclosed for them about 4 years ago with plexiglass panels and rigid insulation, a door with a pet door so they have freedom to come and go as they wish. Since the patio doors from our family room open onto the porch, I hung insulated drapes over the rigid insulation and put several layers of indoor/outdoor rugs laid on plywood covering the decking. With all this, it was still very cold there (we have cold winters in WV) so we kept two oil filled electric heaters on most of the time for them. With the heated beds, I want to eliminate one of these heaters this winter. A bonus of enclosing the porch is that it serves as an air lock for our family room, making it much warmer now. We've had the beds for less than a week and it took several days for the cats to accept them. I had to remove the doors (attached on the inside with velcro) before they would go in. That's ok because it took them a week to learn how to use the pet door. I've only seen one at a time in the beds but since they are a Momma cat and her offspring who are used to cuddling together, I'm sure that once the weather turns colder they will all be huddled together. Did I mention that we also have a boarder cat? Our neighbor's cat drops by 3 or 4 times a day to enjoy the food and water and curl up next to the heaters to sleep at night, so I've left out one of the big fluffy beds that my cats like to snuggle into. I wish the heated beds had a fluffier pad but I understand why they can't. Since my beds are on an enclosed porch, my cat's don't need an escape door and I've left those in place. If the structural strength of the unit could be altered so the opening could be placed on the side instead of at the end, it would give the cat's more protection from cold air as they wouldn't have to lie right in front of the door. This would probably only work in an enclosed sheltered area like a porch but it would be nice to have the option B00J9Q45JS US
